Oh crap aye! I think he said he lived near Kyoto, which is a good while south of Tokyo and inland, so hopefully there will be minimal affects there (not least of all because it is one of the most beautiful places on the planet!).

Really bad news, slightly more strong than the Chile earthquake, but hopefully being a 'more developed' country they will be able to deal with the devastation better.

Blimey that's terrible, I hadn't even heard about it.

I hope PrideoftheNorthEast is Ok as well, he was/is in Libya but he hasn't been on for ten days.

I'd forgotten that PrideoftheNorthEast had a location of Libya.

I've got a few family friends in Osaka and they have been in touch with my Dad to say they are OK and not to worry.

The Missus best friend and boyfriend were in Osaka and left last night. To be fair, it's over 500 miles away and on a different coast.. will feel the slight aftershocks but should be in no danger from getting wet

Mind, if anyone can look after themselves, the ginger snaps can. They are a well organised bunch and have been as earthquake ready as anyone in the world over centuries. Probably more so.
Heart goes ot to them as well.

Wein it's awful but that was my first thought, at least the country has the money and the infrastructure to minimise the deaths/devestation!

Anyone watching BBC news? That fire is absolutely huge.

Japan is one of the most earthquake ready countries and there is still all this damage, its quite frightening.
