I would say gibbs tbh. He has the best of both worlds in terms of attack and defense. Not sure what it indicates but in the preseason tournament santos played left wing while gibbs lefr back.
There really is a lack of positivity in this thread. Dont see why though i genuinely dont think we need to strengthen here

Thats terrible idea imo. Our system requires more width and attackin intent. In addition verm would be wasted at lb. He may have had an off year but is a great cb.

This^. Gibb's takes too long to track back, whenever we're caught on the counter Gibbs will be 3/4 the way up the pitch. Both decent players, I don't think LB is a problem for us. In fact it's a good dilema having to choose from the two. Personally, I like Santos, I think he's the more solid LB - a very good defender, strong and skilful. He's also got a bullet of a shot and is very willing to run at defenders and take them on. I think he could have a big season coming up. As for Vermealen at LB, you only have to see his performances there last season, coupled with the fact that we've already got two players who can play that position better to understand what a dumb suggestion that is
I see Zlatan has offered some great suggestions there!! I like the idea of Gibbs against more offensive opponents, Santos against those teams that sit back with men behind the ball. It's always a more exciting game with Santos playing, and contrary to popular belief, he is a good defender when in position, he just needs some defensive drills to ensure he spends a bit more time in position rather than floating around. He also needs a player in front of him who can cover if he is caught too far up field - something that Theo is very very good at with Sagna, Gervinho and Oxo are not so good. Vermaelen has categorically stated he DOES NOT want to play LB, and nor should he. He's a good CB, and if he was pushed to LB on a permanent basis, I imagine he would hand in a transfer request the very next window. Arsenal need to stop playing players out of position, and playing Vermaelen at LB would be doing just this. He doesn't look like he has the physical stamina to charge up and down the line all game - a poor LB choice when there's 2 natural ones available.
