Apparently he's unhappy at Real and is considering a 'swift return' to the premier league. Real would probably take a hit on the thirty million they paid for him. Worth a punt ? Do we need him ? He'd want first team football, could he be a replacement / rotation for Arteta ? If he does come he'll probably end up at Chelsea or Utd, who both wanted him when he was at Spurs. I bet Spurs wish they took that forty million that Chelsea were offering them, seeing as he might end up there anyway for under thirty million.
Nah! Good Player but not we need we already have arteta, rosicky, wilshere and Cazorla in those positions he is not a DM or box to box player which is the priority in MF. Plus a str/WF is the other priority. If we buy all of those then would not say no if we went for him - great player but not what we need.
True but the mental mental scar/message sent about the club is completely different if Modric goes to Chelsea via Real Madrid. For the boards it's bad business....but for their fans and the image of the club to outsiders it shows them to be a club who have the metal to fend off rivals (a trait they haven't always displayed...Cambell, Berbatov etc)
Oh piskie...you continue in this crap about how we were offered £40m for him but "only" took £30m for him. Chelsea offered £20m then £22m followed by £28m. They upped it to £30m then again up to £30m plus Alex who they claimed was worth £10m ... that is not the same as a £40m bid. We accepted a £30m bid for a player that gooners claimed wouldn't get into their midfield last season. The only people who said it was a £40m bid were: a) Chelsea (who gooners have reason not to trust on the transfer stakes) b) Redknapp (who also claimed not to have anything to do with transfers) c) The press (who are always right on the transfer stakes!) We kept modric and effectively lost out on Alex....and wehere exactly is this £10m worth of talent now? And did Chelsea get £10m for him? And would you have wanted Arsenal to pay £10m for him. On top of this he helped come 4th...this effected the view of others to join us (Lloris, Dembele, Vertongen) and to get others to sign extensions like Bale ... and others to stay like BAE etc. If you'd sold RVP £12 months earlier you'd have got double what got ... but you'd could have lost out on CL and lost out on last summers signings
This. And Real would still want about 20 million for him, which is too expensive IMO. Also there could be a big shake up at Madrid next season, and Modric might get another chance.
I'd rather Isco who would be cheaper and a better option for our squad imo - although chelsea seem to be in for him as well!
I'd have him in a heartbeat but think he'll end up at United. I can see Old Whiskey and Madrid agreeing a cut price deal to spite Spurs after the Fryers deal.
Modric left to compete for trophies at a top club and has a big contract at Real. Like or not, unless Modric wants a wage drop and doesn't want to win trophies any more then he's out of your league. Anyway Wilshere's better and Ramsey will be better than him, right?
As a Real Madrid fan I am disappointed with Modrioc. He is not good enough and cannot control a game. Not a good investment for us.
so everybody else including both teams and your manager involved said it was £40m. But we're supposed to believe you because you say it was £30m ?
I believe on his day, Rosicky's better than Modric. . Heck, not just on his day, Rosicky is a better player than Modric. Oh yes, and so is Wilshere, not yet for Ramsey, but maybe one day. Oh you can add Cazorla too, much better than Modric. Modric this, Modric that. With VDV, and Modric, you still couldn't end above Arsenal, so what's all the fuss about?
Typical 'instant success' attitude that exists in football. The bloke was a decent premier lge player for what 3, 4 years ? He moves to one of the worlds most elite clusb and is expected to boss games ? Not happening. The patience levels of owners and fans seems to be reducing by the day. As for us, I don't think we need another midfielder and especially not a slight, lightweight playmaker
Like RCL, I remember 'Arry saying at the end of deadline day that the deal of £40mill included Alex who they valued at £10mill(might have been £8mill). I can't see any report on it so you can discount it if you want. Even if you do ignore it... Both teams confirmed it, where did you see that? As far as I know 'Arry was the only one that said £40mill since when did you believe everything he says? Even if you believe him he actually said "I think £40million was apparently offered yesterday. Whether that is true or not, it is what I heard." so basically he didn't hear it from Levy or anywhere official, just the papers which were plastered with speculation on Chelsea's bids, as they were all summer.
Well Dembele is supposed to be a top 100 player in the world after 15 matches for Spurs and 1 good season with Fulham
Modric is overated. Carzorla and Wilshere are better. I would rather we spent the money on a DM and a CF.
Thanks for clearing that up, it must be reassuring that you have so many players that are better than Real Madrid's.
