Why would we bid for Long if it's going to be rejected?! So bizarre.

The fact we've made it public that the Long bid had been accepted when it clearly hadn't just means we can be held to ransom by WBA.

He'll cost another £1-2m now if we want him.

We should change our name to the Mickey Mouse club.

We didn't make anything public. Sky jumped the gun, can't be laid at the clubs feet.

Nothing wrong with the selling club holding out for as much as they can get. Afterall, WBA need all the cash they can muster by all accounts.

AA said in the Sky interview that terms had been agreed.

    Whatever that means in Allamspeak

i would assume the clubs offered far less than the 6.5million and thats why its been rejected

who can second guess whats going on at boardroom level - we will know more tonight at 10pm on BBC2
As the Hull City fly on the wall documentary starts then

Just move on! I think there's better out there myself! If we get him great but I don't think we should be shelling a load of dosh on someone who's only got 6 months left!

Have to say that the timing of all this stinks and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone signed anything?

Point being if we've been in dialogue with them at board level for the past few days, we should know how much they want, otherwise there's no point bidding.

It's as much about how much we want to pay, compared to how much they want. It'll be a bartering process.

And of course, most modern deals are done in staggered payments or with add-ons, so since Allam has today confirmed he is prepared to pull the plug at any time, it's highly possible that any deal of that kind has now gone back to square one as Everton/WBA will be worried they won't get all they are owed.

    It's a terrible mess.

Yup totally agree. We should no way pay anything even close to what we bid in the summer. He can sign on a free in 6 months time!! If Jelavic is really a done deal, we should move on and try to sign someone else.

But he can't. WBA have the option of another year, so technically he has 18 months on his contract.

He doesn't need to be a goal machine. He's a good player.
