It's all price dependant though TC, if say Ann Stokells average runner is 33/1 at Southwell then laying them isn't going to be profitable
Some great stats there TC -given and his aids is startling! King shergs -long distance travellers do win sometimes, but I take your main point -don't be too dogmatic -many people surprisingly are -
Some interesting stats there TC. The stats relating to cheek pieces etc are probably horses with poor form and the gear is to see if it helps concentration. Hence they will probably be long odds and therefore too risky to lay. The A berry stat is fascinating. It would be interesting to know the odds of these losers. I'm guessing none were favs
I have added the profit laying these horses to a £1 stake - as you can see, every one of them is proftable by some margin!!
Ofcourse long distance travellers will win from time to time, the same as any selection can win. But in my experiences they will usually end up far shorter in the market than they should be on the form book. I personally fail to see what difference it makes to the horses chances. All it says to me is that the owner fancys a day out at the track
Very interesting, but, you know, the best strategy is yours, Ron, i.e. fantasy betting. Unexciting, but surely the best? However, you had better watch out for those wandering French tipsters.........
Probably Swanny. For me anyway. Does anyone have any stats on the Pricewise selections? Most interested in prices available when tips announced and SPs (plus the results of course). ie how profitable to back at best available odds when tipped and lay at the best available odds just prior to the off. On the basis that they are always laid off (so in some cases it would be a case of minimising the loss).
Sam Hall runners at Ayr used to be very productive. Can't think of any trainer course tie ups these days.
From my youth I remember looking for the following trainer / track combos: Barry Hills - Chester Henry Cecil - Notingham & Leicester (he usually meant business if he sent one to the North Midlands) Luca Cumani - Brighton
Don Cantillon at Stratford - Roger Varian at Brighton Ben Pauling at towcester All have very profitable rates at these tracks -from memory!
