Just been reading a piece on the beeb football site quoting Sheridan regarding our "progress" from last season and stating that in his opinion we are better placed this season to stay in the play off position. What do you reckon? My view is he is right in that we have better players in our squad than last term when we totally bottled it at the end. He is right that we are in a slightly better position points wise than we were then also. But not so sure we are that better placed than we were then given we are so inconsistent. We get a couple of results and then proceed to blow it again (repeat over and over). This has been the theme since Christmas and it is a bit of a wonder how we are still there knocking on the door. Seems this inconsistent thing is catching and has spread throughout the league making one week to the next really hard to fathom. On that basis and that basis alone I reckon we are slightly better placed and it is more likely we will stay in the mix as opposed to last seasons capitulation. Not because we are better but because nobody else is either.
Yes Sensible we are fortunate the other teams are having their ups and downs too but not to forget the injuries recently, I guess we have done ok. A massive test on Fri. (is it live on tv?) but with the two encouraging signings recently I feel confident of a result if the team performs with the right attitude from the start! Shame we have to hopefully settle with the playoffs but getting out of league 2 is top priority asap!
It's not on TV as it is a full league programme on Good Friday so not a normal one. Injuries certainly interupted the run we were on over Christmas along with a couple of hiccups with some loanees. But, that has not been the case for a while now so to be fair it cannot be blamed for our up and down results.
I just had to comment on the latest offering from our illustrious manager. He states that in his opinion the next two games are massive for Argyle and he feels we must win them both to stand any chance of being in the playoffs. Well no **** Sherlock you don't say. How on earth did he manage to work that one out? If we don't win the next one in my opinion we are bolloxed let alone the next two. Far too inconsistent as I've been saying for a while now. One minute we are in and the next we are out again only to get back in to drop out. We have been lucky for a while now that the form of pretty much all of the playoff chasing sides has been hit or miss but now the finishing line is in site that won't last. All that crowing done by Argyle fans earlier in the season about Exeter and it's now looking like they will roll in as we roll out and stay out. I have a feeling it's all going to get massively disappointing yet again this season with another whimper.
Back in again.......do the hokey cokey and you turn around.... The Manager said this week that he didn't care how we got the points as long as we got them. Well I bleddy care and although the points were welcome today the way we got them was bleddy horrible. This inconsistency cost us several thousand off the gate again. Probably true over at least 10 games and just think how much money that is they lost out on.
I know really outplayed today following BBC live commentary, how we survived He only knows! Still tight but only got themselves to blame if goes tits up!
