I've been watching City since 1974, had the pleasure of seeing a few keepers at City including Wealands, Norman and Myhill but I'm beginning to wonder if McGregor is the best of the lot. Taking into account the opposition he's playing against, his general keeping including kicking under pressure which I really noticed yesterday when he had to deal with quite a few back passes, and is unflappability under pressure he gets my vote. I just feel so comfortable seeing him on the team sheet, I havn't felt that way about a City goalie for a long time.
Alan Fettis. But yeah, I'd say McGregor is the best all-round I've seen us have. Myhill had some amazing performances on a good day (such as the Spurs game) but I wouldn't say he was as consistent.
He's a good solid all rounder. Prone to the odd mistake, like all goalies, but yeah, I rate him more than Hart that's for sure.
Alright partridge, bit too early to say yet but he could be one day. Made a great save from moses at 1-1 that one was crucial.
Top keeper and in hindsight (and at the time tbh) he's been a much better deal than Schmeichel would have been.
Tony Warner. Honestly, just because he was the keeper I grew up with through our rise from the bottom to the top, Myhill for me. McGregor looks like he will overtake him though if he continues as he is.
Too early to assess- but a very good start No obvious flaws or embarrassing gaffs. I feared the worst after Fat Fwank's goal for Chelsea, but look at the calibre of players who've put the ball past him. Lampard, Yaya Toure, Gerrard, Negredo etc
I was pretty young at the time, but it was always obvious that Tony Norman was a class act. To go from him to that fat **** Hesford was a tragedy of the highest order. But Alan Fettis was always my man. He made some unbelievable saves. A little bit of quality in a team of mediocrity.
I liked Swanny - decent goalie, brave and as hard as nails. He went on to success as part of the "Father Ted" team (not many people know that!). I think McGregor is excellent and certainly one of the best we've had in the last 20 or so years. Tony Norman was great though, we owe a lot to Andy Oakes and I think we actually saw the best of Roy Carroll. Steve Wilson, Alan Fettis and Bo Myhill all had their moments and probably qualify as City Legends for different reasons - Bo for his rise through the leagues, Fettis for his goals and Willo for just being Willo.
You know who I think is the best going on my boyhood memories but if he continues as he is McGregor will take his place.
Theo Whitmore. When he went in goal in that 6-1 v Tranmere match, he helped City out so much. Best keeper I've seen at the KC.
I'll be honest and admit my heart sank when I heard we'd signed him.A talented keeper for sure but prone to going a bollock far too often. Then twatting torres in his first five minutes in a City shirt, things weren't looking good. I hope it's not a false dawn but he looks way more focused than at any time I've seen him playing for Rangers/Scotland.Who knows, but if SB can keep him straight then he could be the best keeper we've had.Time will tell. As for keepers past many good ones have been mentioned but for me it will always be Wealands with Tony Norman a close second.
