The reason why is probably because I asked to miss out the obvious ones with promotion and the hull game in my thread post, just wanted to see what people would come up with without those games as a choice.

Swansea v Panathanaikos in the European Cup Winners Cup

Night time kick off love it. Vetch field jam packed with the away support for all to see in the East Stand...love it. Great game , absolutely bonkers atmosphere with flares going off in the stands (not the trouser type), intimidating drumbeats and being stood in the West stand for the first time (with a great view directly behind the actione packed goal)

May we get these games back at Fortress Liberty one day

The Wembley game was very special. But the one that stand out for me beating Leeds as I have all ready said. The Panathanikos game was something else as well. Other games over the years that always brings back memories. Beating Northampton at there place 1-0 great day. Torquay @ Plainmore in the pouring rain play off final. Cardiff at Ninian Park Kieth Walker volleying home, no away support jumped up cheering to see Swans fans dotted around the main stand PRICLESS!!!! Luck to get out alive!!!

Slight twist now, worst game. Losing to Northamption in the play off final with a dubious re taken free kick, GUTTED!!!!! Felt so sorry for Molby.

Leeds seems to be a reoccuring favourite team that we've played over the years so i'll go for the most recent one,Even though i've watched the Swans since 1977 that 3-0 win back in the spring was a complete performance that i'd seen that season and convinced me that we were heading to the PL and of course i was right.

PNE away that gave us promotion to the old first division was special also, but as i have been watching the swans since 1961 i have loads of memories that have faded somewhat that are to many to mention, recent games like cardiff, leeds, hull, forest and reading are all special wins that i cherish also... but not forgetting our wins against wba and stoke so far this season they are special too.

i seem to remember a trip to carlisle back in the eighties where we had to win to stand a chance of either promotion or it might have been to get into that first playoffs. but all darlington had to do was avoid defeat at home to newport who were ****e and going down. we won but there was no news from darlo. when we got back on the bus it came over the radio that newport had beaten them and the bus erupted. i'd forgotten about the 1-0 at northampton. that was a hell of a day. the first time i ever saw the swans win away was at forest in 82. robbie james got 2 past peter shilton who was at the top of his game at the time. i'm so glad i saw that as we didn't win away again for two and a half years until we went to bournmouth on a tuesday night in oct/nov 84. i remember one of our fans doing cart wheels on the pitch after that game. actually, the forest game was the last time we won away in the top flight. but that's going to change soon.

jager appologies. will teach me to read the thread properly.

Has to be both games against west ham in the fa cup. thought we had blown it at upton park only to beat them at home. Think Martin Thomas got the winner. I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong. The atmosphere at the Vetch that night was electric.

Sorry, jager, I missed the point too. All the games mentioned by the guys so far were memorable and I would add our replayed cup tie against Crystal Palace at Ninian Park as another one. I've been watching for so long there are many others, so I'll take time to think about them.

However, going back many, many years, we played a second division game against Liverpool at the Vetch. We were down 0-2; 1-3; 2-4; and finally won the game 5-4 with a late goal from injured centre forward Brayley Reynolds who was hobbling on the right wing (no subs). With a few minutes left he received the ball wide on the right, about 25/30 yards from goal (west) then hooked the ball into the goalmouth. I don't know if the ball hit a divot, or whether there was a crazy spin on it but it eluded everyone in a crowded penalty area and went in off the far post. The crowd went nuts and it was certainly one of the most exciting games I ever watched.

Liverpool were a strong, powerful outfit then and went on to promotion a couple of seasons later. That team eventually evolved into the great Liverpool team that we all remember. We actually beat them again at home (4-2) in the last game of the season during their promotion year. I was there for that one as well.

League Cup replay at White Hart Lane 1980 after the draw at the Vetch in August when Tommy Smith met Ozzie Ardiles.
0-3 to the Swans if I remember rightly and Allan Curtis was outstanding. Did he score all 3 goals? I think he did. Spurs won the FA Cup that year and had a great team but the Swans killed them that game. Best game ever, not the most important I admit, but wow they were on fire. Fabulous.

So many games to choose from but one sticks in my memory - Swans v Watford on a Tues night game at the back end of the 1978 season and Tosh's first game as player manager. I think we doubled our average seasons gate that night so must have been over 15,000 in the Vetch. I went with my mate who is vertically challenged so I made one of my rare departures from the North Bank to the top of the Double Decker West Stand. It always made me feel I was taking a huge personal risk going up there but a great view. It was one of the series of games in our race from bottom to top with Garham Taylor's Watford. We were 2-0 up at half time with Tosh getting a predictable goal but then a typical Swans 2nd half Watford took a 3-2 lead with 5 mins to go. Then Alan Curtis got a last minute equlaiser - the West Sand was literally rocking! If I remember when we playd them again the next season that was also on a Tues night and there was over 20,000 in the Vetch. There were some great eveing games at the old ground.
