Carrying on from yesterday. We can argue if MLT is a striker or not. Also have so many others to choose from. Keegan, Moran, Osgood, Charlie George, Egil, Beattie, Ron Davies, Joe Jordan the list goes on and on.

So who was best and why?

As an out and out centre forward we have never had a better player than Big Ron Davies.

I thought Channon was our best inside forward but I did like little Marion.

For all round attacking football there has never been a better footballer in a Saints shirt than our Matty.

For wing play we have been spoiled but Terry Paine was superb and without doubt was the best.

Surprised no one has mentioned Martin Chivers, Alan shearer, George O'brian, Derek Reeves, Charley wayman! Depends surely how far you want to go back. I have to agree with Godders though....Big Ron Davis will take some beating an absolute legend!!
