We are staying up this season.

    Where do we need strengthening?

I would sign a promising CB such as Harry Maguire, a new left back Aaron Cresswell.

    Any thoughts?

I'd personally go for a pair of full backs as one injury and we're very light on the ground, specially as we look like having extra Europa league games to contend with.

A sitting central midfielder, similar to Gary Medel, who can protect the back four and allow Tom and Jake to push forwards more not having to worry too much about getting back.

A right winger with some skill and tricks who plays it about on the floor, as good as Elmo's been for us he's very limited in style and when crosses into the box just aren't cutting it it'd be good to have another option to give something different. That and he's our only recognised right winger and we could do with another for depth regardless.

A centre half, I don't know whether I'd splash out on a first choice or go for an up and comer like Harry maguire. Chester looks to be really getting to grips with the premier league now and has even outshone Davies once or twice of late. I've every faith that him and Davies will be formidable next season but I don't know if that's a gamble worth taking or not. It also depends on the funds available and how we can stretch them to strengthen the areas that need it, but I do think we could do with an extra bit of quality at the back, whether a nailed on starter or a rotation option, specially with all the extra games we're likely to be playing and inevitable injury/fatigue. I don't think 4 centre halves will be enough.

Edit: just realised I spoke as if Jake is our player.

Number 1 priority - Jake Livermore. A vital cog in our team and one that's already settled and knows the other players well. If Tottenham charge that little bit extra than other options cost it would be worth it for that familiarity and seamless fit. Hit the ground running at the start of the season.

But you've got the best Championship winning side EVER, surely it's impossible for you to strengthen?

With us hopefully being in Europe next season we're going to need to use our entire squad, and with a number being out of contract at the end of the season I think we might be quite active in this window...

    Out of Contract:
    Jak
    Harper - Maybe another year?
    Faye
Dudge - Shame, but I think he'll go.
    Koren

(I suspect Bruce and Fryatt will get another year)

    Ship Out:
    Figgy - Sold\Loan

    Bring In:
    Livermore
    GK
    LB
    DM

I'd also like to see another CM, and ST come in - maybe in loan.

    Another winger.

I've name dropped him before, but I'd love us to get Jefferson Montero.

Beyond that, I'm sure there will be a couple of larkers that catch the eye in the world cup. That's how we roll now.

Similar to Gary Medel?? he hasn't done such a good job for Cardiff. Someone similar to Morgan Schneiderlin would be a better choice of defensive midfielders.

We need a left back for sure plus cover, then centre back cover, get rid of DASBloomer and maybe Sagbo, keep Matty! Sign another decent striker and a more midfielder then we are good to go.
    But what do I know!

JayC, Harper and Bruce have already recieved extensions keeping them here for another year. I'd like to see Oxley take the backup role and I think he probably will, there's other areas of the team that need strengthening first. We also can't be letting Figueroa go, as bad as he can he at times he's still one of only two full backs at the club and if he left, we'd get sod all for him and have an outlay to bring in a replacement. I'm certain we'll need four recognised full backs if we're to play in the Europa league.

Figgy has been really patchy, I **** my pants when someone takes him on, however has has been good before and we may see him in an advanced left side position next year?

Someone like Gary Medel - that means someone similar in style, who will sit back breaking up play an cring as a platform for the other midfielders to press on forwards. He was the first name which came to mind.

I'd love us to sign him as well, despite Cardiffs poor season he's still a wry handy player, very capable at his job and not out of our league stature wise, although price wise I believe he would cost far too much in terms of fee and wages to be considered viable. He had a poor game today mind, but doesn't everyone at some point?

Steven Caulker is another one from Cardiff who matches the above description exactly as well, good player but too expensive.

Sebastian Bassong if Norwich go down? I'd definitely look into taking Nathan Redmond off their hands too, he's just what we need and I can't think of many others who would be both willing to sign and be available.

I know what you mean, you just picked a poor one.

Although he done far better than I ever expected and hats off to him, we need a better Alex Bruce.

We need young players who can't get a game for their current sides or who have been relegated...Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards, Bassong, Campbell (the Arsenal one)...obviously some will be loans but we need to be sure we don't get lumbered with another Danny Graham situation.

Rodwell and Richards would be absolutely superb, but I think they're above us both in ability and cost. They'd both surely have offers from top half sides. Sinclair would be alright anarl.

I think those 2 would be loans really...we couldn't afford to buy them in a million years but they'll definitely start most games for us. How many games has Rodwell started for Man City...3? What a waste of talent.

Fully agree, I really rated him at Everton and though him and Wilshere together in the middle would produce great things for future England sides. Just goes to show I'd completely forgotten about his existence until you made that post.

Criminal that big clubs can just hoard so many potentially great young players and barely show them the pitch. Such a shame to see a player like Rodwell doing **** all.

You're probably the pettiest person ever to post on here, and that's saying something. Your life must be really, really ****ing dull. Oh, of course it is, you couldn't even afford to attend the semi final. You have my pity, poor sod.
