Bert Williams, goalkeeper for Wolves and England was one of my boyhood heroes and I was fortunate to be able to see him play live at Ninian Park in 1952/3.
The next season, he along with the great Wolves team who were the current First Division Champions, played at Ashton Gate in the first ever floodlight game at Bristol City. In those days we only had still photos in books and magazines so seeing our heroes in the flesh was a really special occasion.
Similar to many of his era, a legend to his club's fans.

I presume there will be a tribute to him at Molineux this coming Saturday and I ask all visiting City fans to pay their respects to a great man.
