    Manga will almost certainly leave.

I think Turner would be confident of his ability to put real pressure on Morrison.

If Manga leaves someone else to fulfill his role will certainly be brought in with or without Turner at the club.

Don't get me wrong, I like Turner for his rearguard commitment despite his lack of footballing skills with the ball at his feet. I don't think the club could take the chance on relying on him as a regular CB option given his recent troublesome ankle problems.

They know far more about his medical history and the procedures he's gone through. If despite that they took the chance and gave him say another couple of years contract and it all went tits up, I doubt the decision would have gone down that well.

Agree on your last point Sparkey.

Can't imagine him offering a pay as you play option if he didn't think he was sound though.

A perilous business is football. Make your fortune or end up broke.

It's a funny old game remote, and what's sometimes said by those involved is often an "after the event" reaction to a disappointment. Ben might well believe he's capable of a full season next year - the club obviously felt they couldn't take the chance.

In the aftermath of being virtually rejected, he's now suggested a sort of pay as you play deal. I may be a bit cynical but I wouldn't mind betting if the club had come up with that offer he'd have been going public as to why he was being made a derisory deal after 5 years loyal service. Hey ho, that's human nature and part of every day life - not just footballers.

That may be a bit harsh from the outside and I really like Ben for all the right reasons, but taking a chance on such a deal would have been risky for Ben and very indecisive business by the club. Centreback is a vital position on the pitch and we need all the resources available to be put toward virtual certainties, not tie them up with maybes.
