... many reports suggesting that Chilwell has turned down a new contract with us in favour of a move to Liverpool ...

    http://www.thisisanfield.com/2016/05/liverpool-believe-won-race-sign-ben-chilwell/

... find myself with bemusing emotions over this .. unlike with Joe Buttock or Richard Stearman leaving us because they (mistakenly) thought they were moving to bigger things ... this a young (admittedly ambitious) man leaving us in order to get a better chance of playing in the first team AT LIVERPOOL!!!!! <laugh>

... now I never thought that I'd be writing that ...

How far we have come indeed ....

Forza Claudio! Forza King Power! Forza The Siamese Foxes!!!! LEICESTER CITY FC ... the impossible dream!

He's not going to play any more for Liverpool than for us, this would be a very stupid move. Liverpool have a massive squad that they never utilise, he's just going to be stuck playing reserve team football there. He's second choice here behind a player with the quality of Fuchs, he should be happy with that.

Surely he's more chance of playing for us when we'll have 4 competitions next year, I know we don't know who we might bring in yet but we're still not going to have a ridiculously massive squad.

Let him go, I doubt he'll achieve much more anyway, I'm sure we can get someone better in if he does leave.

    According to John Percy

Liverpool interest is genuine and we rejected £5M in January from Arsenal so the £3M will be much more and he hasnt rejected his new contract, the offer is still on the table

Be gutted if he went. Fuchs as good as he has been has one or maybe two seasons left. Chilwell has just played for England U21's and surely must see the club are assisting in his development. He should knuckle down and get in the team in front of Fuchs.

What are the current UEFA Rules?
The current UEFA rules state that the 25 man squad submitted by each club playing in the UEFA Champions League must have at least 8 locally trained players named in it.

What is meant by a locally trained player?
A locally trained player can either be club trained or association trained for the purposes of the UEFA rule.

What is the difference between a club trained player or an association trained player?
In order for a player to be viewed as a locally trained player he must have been trained in that country for a specific time period between a certain age. A player could either have been trained at one specific club and he will then be regarded as a club trained player. If the player has been trained at different clubs in that country during that time period then he will be regarded as an association trained player as the two clubs will be affiliated to the same association.

At what age and for how long must a player be trained to be considered a locally trained player?
The player must have been registered at that club or different clubs affiliated to the same association for a period of three full football seasons, or 36 months between the age of 15 and 21.

Does this apply regardless of nationality?
This rule applies regardless of the nationality of the player meaning that young players who move to a different country between the ages of 15 and 21 and who have played for three full seasons in that country will be regarded as locally trained in that country.?

So using our current first team squad it would be Kasper, Drinkwater, Morgan. James, Vardy, King, Albrighton, Hamer, Schlupp, Simpson, Moore, Gray, Dyer (on loan) and Chilwell.

We have nothing to be worried about on that regard.

I take it you haven't seen our current LB play <wah>
can't say i have seen enough of Chilwell to judge his qualities but i have seen enough of Moreno to know anyone with some football intelligence would be an improvement come to that my border collie would be of more use to us than him

The only reason he is on your raider is because he played for Hudderfield on loan who is managed by Klopp's best mate - he has only 3 starts for us in the cups where he played well but was found out a few times but that is expected at his age.

I wouldn't mind swapping him for Moreno if you don't want him - aside from his very questionable choice of tattoos he is still only a kid himself but with international experience.

Are we offering Konchesky in exchange for Moreno or Spanish's border collie?

Ranieri seems to fancy Chilwell with him being on the bench quite a bit, but not over Fuchs, which is fair enough tbh.

Its the Inler situation, just at LB. He might be good, but no reason to drop Fuchs.
