Cats linked with Bellamy Sunderland, 09:03, July 5, 2011 Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has entered the race to sign Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy but faces a battle to land him. The Black Cats boss is on the look out for new front men at the club, with as many as four new strikers thought to be on Bruce's wanted list, and Bellamy could be available on a season-long loan deal. He spent last season at Cardiff in a similar deal and had expressed his desire to finish his career with his home town club but, after they failed to gain promotion to the Premier League last season, that hope is now over. City boss Roberto Mancini has made it clear that the striker is not part of his plans so a move away looks a certainty but Bruce faces a battle with Stoke and Celtic to try and land the controversial front man. On a loan would be very good news, and gives the other two time to get up to speed and Fraizer to get fit.
While i would like him, but very much doubt we will get him. If we are after him and lose out to Celtic or Stoke, Something is a-miss, unless they are suddenly prepared to pay over the top wages.
He'd be a good signing albeit a bit of a troublemaker - although he seemed to have sorted himself out in the dressing room towards the end of his Man City days..
City have said they won't be subbing his wages any more, so he'd be expensive. If he's fit, though, I'd certainly take him on loan, preferably with an option to buy.
Yes froggy, Bellamy signed for Celtic on loan at the end of the January 2005 transfer window. Commachio Stoke and Celtic have one bargaining weapon we don't. They are playing in Europe!
If you mean how long was he at Celtic. It was only to the end of the season. He played in the final game at Motherwell which Celtic, against all the odds, managed to lose and that handed the SPL Championship to Rangers. If you mean how long will Celtic and Stoke be in Europe. Well if I knew that my money would be on it's way to the bookies but only as a temporary loan!!!!
He will only go out on loan where half his wages will be paid by City, I think he is passed his best anyway.
Ripped from the Transfer Tavern........ http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/2011/07/premiership/star-told-accept-45k-pwk-or-rot-in-the-reserves Stoke City have joined the likes of Sunderland, Everton, Blackburn and Celtic in the hunt to negotiate a wage cut with out-of-favour City frontman Craig Bellamy and offer him a season loan at the Britannia. Bellamy whom has one year left on his current contract at Eastlandâs has been left red-faced as Roberto Mancini will force the Welsh International skipper, along with a host of outcastâs to train alone or amongst themselves as the Italian has made it clear he is not involved in his future plans, therefore he must steer clear of the training ground as the squad return to prepare for the new campaign. The feisty front man spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, finding the net 11 times as he pushed his local team towards promotion coming mighty close. Iâm sure another season spearheading the bluebirds towards the top flight would be a dream for Bellamy, but his wage demand has put that idea bed. According to The Guardian, City have no intention of sanctioning a deal covering any of the playerâs wage, as they did last season making it possible for Cardiff to take him. Tony Pulis is thought to be keen to test the water where Bellamy is concerned, but it is clear he would have to take a large cut on his £90k a week. The 31 year old has bags of experience at the top level and would be a promising addition where the potters are concerned as they look to build a squad that can cut it in Europe as they continue to improve . Celtic are also pushing for his assistance according to the Daily Record, but yet again the high maintenance of the player is a problem, and he would have to see a dramatic pay cut of up to 60% to make a return to Parkhead. The striker has made an impact one way or another wherever he has played and would certainly make his presence known no matter where he takes up his occupation come the new season, but one thing is for sure, he will have to lose at least half of his weekly wage⦠My heart bleeds.
