He doesn't suit any other type of football - remember how bad his touch was? He only got away with it because he was so quick, and he won't have the same pace he did. He's not a bad finisher but his goal tally in league 1 made us blind to the deficiencies in his game.
Fair point Kiwi, but I'd like us to give him a go. As someone else said, he'll be better than what we've got
Agree totally. He's a free agent so nothing to lose. Just been listening to the Celtic manager saying how difficult it is to sign a top striker and they're playing cl football. As he pointed out, every team wants to sign quality strikers. Won't be easy for us given resources available so Becks has to be worth a punt
Why would he bother now? Preston in same division and will likely give him a contract. Seems to have a bond with Grayson so I reckon hell stay put
He never got to play with us in Championship so cant say for definite hes not up to it Add to that, a professional back room team, Pearson running the show and an ace German coach and sky could be the limit for him
I don't want them. I don't want any loanees that aren't 'try before you buy'. We're supposed to be building a squad for the future, not providing a training ground for other team's 'possibles', then trying to fill the gaps when they leave. We've tried that & got nowhere.
Lets face it Beckford only seems to play for Simon so I don't think he is worth a punt leave him at Preston Nick Powell appeals to me
It's not the end of May. How many player have you recommended so far this close season? It seem like five or six this weekend alone? I think it's safe to say not one of those you have mentioned have a snowballs of coming.
FFS beckford is the past lets move forward, Hes 31,league one at best, good on his day fair play. Thanks for the goals but no. Are we going to be linked with him like smith!???
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Short term loans in the season to cover injuries I can deal with, but even then I'd rather give our own youth players a chance than sign the youth players of other clubs on loan. That said, I doubt Rosler will be 'using his connections'. He never once signed a Manchester City player on loan at either Brentford or Wigan, and only signed one player from Man City - Shaleum Logan, who was released anyway.
