with our gates being one of the lowest in the championship, our budget will follow suit, we can`t compete with ipswich, sheff wed or even charlton who get much better gates, Millwall are the surprise package, we are a league one club in the championship who will do well to avoid relegation. Its not a surprise that us and barnsley are bottom of the pile. I believe SL knows the only way to progress is to bring on good youngsters, hence the changes to the youth setup that del has made, del is onboard for the long haul, just hope we can bring a few in to help in the short term. Sadly with poor gates, no new ground and no parachute payments we can`t compete with other championship clubs.

But we are getting bad gates now because of some heavy home defeats, boring and uninspiring football, and the fact we cant hold a lead, or keep a clean sheet

We'd be getting 18,000 if we were towards the top of the league

We lost £14m last year - thaty tells you what silly money some of the Championship clubs are paying - we must live within our means

And even more if we also had a stadium with greater capacity than 19,500.

Results puts bums on seats. Nobody wants to spend £30 to watch the crap that's on show at the moment. Like Angelic said. We would get 18k if we were by the playoffs. Just look at our first and 2nd season in the championship.

In the meantime your rivals are making an affort<ok>

Peterborough have confirmed the loan signings of Manchester United duo Davide Petrucci and Scott Wootton until the end of the season.

The reason they've gone from Man U to Peterboro is called "Nepotism"

I wonder if young Darren's lot are actually covering the loan signing's wages or whether his ever happy dad is doing him a massive favour? Shouldn't be allowed....

yes Frank its hard to compete with the other championship clubs as its a very strong division that even the teams from the premiership with their parachute payments have been caught out, but lets not lose faith where we see clubs like Palace, Millwall, Brighton and Burnley who many of us thought may struggle this season but have held their own (especially Millwall & Palace). So going by those clubs we know it is possible to do well in this league but we need to get a few wins in a row and gain more confidence which of course rubs off onto us the supporters. £32.00 for my seat is a expensive price, plus traveling up from Dorset to watch my club, but as we are supporters we do this through good and mostly bad times, hoping oneday of being in the promised land because we follow the City.

An extra 1,000 on each home gate equates to £30k per game which I make to be £690k per annum
We talk about getting 18,000 if we are near the top of the league, but that would only increase our turnover by about £3.5m pa (before taxation)
We lost £14m last year - just want to put some perspective on this.

How is it any different to any other deals that go on between 'mates'. Same happens in 'normal' business too. That's life.

Success is promoting the brand name. Bristol City Football Club is not a successful brand name.
Creating wealth to the brand name is not just about putting bums on seats when we win occasionally.
People normally buy season tickets expecting their team to compete for the season not just the odd game.
It takes years to build success, but when you do, supporters will follow, new and old.
Merchandise will sell, corporate companies will want to sponsor and will want to use facilities which will create finance for the club. (hence the reason for the new stadium).
Norwich City are a good example, through success over the years, their season ticket sells are approx 23000 alone, no matter where they are in the divisions. A City which is approx a quarter of the size of Bristol..It’s a brand name there. You won’t see many walking around with Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool shirts.

It was Steve Lansdown himself saying he had visions of where he wanted to see the club, Premiership status with new stadium....He set the bar level.
To make the club self sufficient at that level requires success over a vast amount of years, IMO it’s not going to plan.

The key/adage here is speculate to accumulate

Serious investment in the squad RIGHT NOW is what is needed to have any hope of avoiding the dreaded drop
