Every manager/team make signings that don't work out

Man City, Chelsea, etc... obviously can afford to take bigger gambles and more often

With some players who might not be our first choice but would undoubtedly be better than what we have currently (Ba, Remi, M'Villa, etc) why not be bold and take a gamble on them??

Their fees and wages are within in reach but Wenger seems to want to persist with taking the cautious approach

Unless he's waiting for the larger targets (Fellani?) there can be no excuses for not attempting to bring in players who have a decent chance to improve the squad

No new signings come the end of the window is completely unacceptable!!!

    Agreed,

If we dont sign anyone and Walcott does'nt sign a new contract Wenger is going to come out of this Window looking totally inept.(particularly after all this talk of 'big money signings')

    Finger crossed.

We have a new signing - Walcott. & Diaby returning from injury is like a new signing.

But, I agree we do need new players, but I don't want to setlle for mediocrity on long term contracts and high wages (Ba etc.). I want top quality, otherwise we may as well stick with what we have.

Diaby is nothing like a new signing. He's a very talented, perennially injured player who must be seen as a luxury when he's fit rather than an actual capable contributing member of the squad.

Ba on current for is better than all of our strikers by your definition we should get rid of Giroud, podolski and not bother siging Theo to a new contract.

    This is funny,

I would rather pay BA high wages because he will EARN them , guaranteed ,,than continue to pay medium wages for people like Squilacci who is on about 60 k a week for offering fuck all . Nothing . Zilch .

Money down the drain every week.

13 days to go. After this time has elapsed I will judge Wenger. I agree with the OP, no signings this window is completely unacceptable.

Not necessarily disagreeing with this train of thought, but who should Wenger buy? Who is readily available that would make a difference? The January sales are always more about shop window posturing than clever business. Again,Wenger is damned if does and damned if he doesnt...

Not to mention Fellani, Sissoko and many others who would improve our squad/team

Agreed, there always seems to be a distinct lack of determination when it comes to Arsenal and transfer windows.

The blinker in Wenger we trust brigade no matter what, will really have no excuses if Wenger doesn't make a move this January, the bull **** of 'no players available', or no 'super quality' players available ain't going to work now, there's a lot of good players available and affordable.

or maybe we have chosen our targets already and they are TOP quality players and if we don't sign them in January we will wait and sign no-one and then sign them in the Summer.

Stop trying to pretend you have any idea what is going on whatsoever - none of us have any idea and so far it is all speculation. Still another 12 days to go and then we will see what we have done in the transfer window. And as i've pointed out tonight it's quite possible we won't know what went on during this transfer window until after the season ends.

Honestly the pessimism just seems over the top! I appreciate that some on here enjoy a good moan, but moan AFTER we have ****ed up, dont moan ASSUMING we will **** up. You'd think you were all a bunch of women!

There are many fans who are jaded after year upon year of under-investment in the squad. I think we have good reason to feel pessimistic. Considering his track record, as far as I'm concerned Wenger is guilty until proven innocent.

Judging by the revenue levels since the move to the Emirates and the colossal stadium debt I think the under-investment was inevitable.

This is blindingly obvious to me - coupled with the explosion of enormous investment into other clubs.

Agreed. The frustrating thing is that it's very convenient to ignore.

Some people choose to base their whole premise on faulting the club, in order that they can try and claim a better alternative. so it fits to apportion blame on mismanagement rather than the wider scenario.

I can only speak for my own views really, but Wenger has kept this club alive during some lean and tough times and I've always maintained that he's the reason that we've kept CL football during that time.
