Been banging on for a while about Barca and why Bayern are the best team in Europe for me. Barca are weak in 3 positions. Piqué, Valdes and other CB position need addressing before they can realistically challenge Bayern. Messi was able to paper over the cracks against PSG and Milan but Bayern are a different ballgame. They are just like us under Mourinho in 2005 but with more individually talented players. For me, today marked a significant day in European football, akin to the 64, 72, 94 and 09 finals. In truth Barca have never been the same team since 2011 when they won it and Puyol picked up serious injuries in the following season. I used to get slammed for saying Piqué and Valdes are average and without Puyol to cover for them it's finally being proven. They can't beat Real (the only other half decent team at this level) and couldn't beat PSG. Couldn't even beat us last season. Flat track bullies and need to spend big in the summer in defensive positions. They are now the 3rd - possibly 2nd at best - team in Europe. Glad those cheats have been found wanting. I haven't felt this good about a non-Chelsea game since City won 6-1 at Old Trafford. Victory For Football
The Bayern fans were brilliant last season even in defeat. As soon as we went out I was hoping they'd be able to do what they couldn't do against us in Munich. Almost poetic if they do it at our 2nd home. I also think Guardiola took the easy option going there and if they do win it this year to go along with their record league success he'll be on a hiding to nothing.
Spot on. Fan owned club and profitable. No club is more deserving. 3 finals in 4 years it'll be now. Bayern fans deserve success given how gracious they are. The 99 final and final last year are the worst circumstances imaginable to lose a final.
After the gracious and very sporting response from the Bayern fans AND club, when losing to us , I for one will be fully supporting Bayern in this years CL. Unlike us, who beat Barca with grit and determination, Bayern won with flair, power and skill. If ever there's a Club we should emulate, it's Bayern. They build year on year, select only players that conform to their style, and have a long term plan for success. Everything in fact, that we don't do. So Roman, look and learn.
