According to Twitter fans were kicked out of ER for wearing Bates Out T-shirts, anyone see this going on. The Scratching Shed‏@TSSLUFCReply Retweet Favorite · Open Just heard someone at Elland Road has been removed for a #BatesOut t-shirt. Ridiculous if true. #LUFC What next water cannons and supporters going missing! If only there was oil at ER, the Americans would be in to get rid of this evil dictator.
I believe they asked him to cover it up rather than actually ejecting him. Could be wrong though. Either way it was a prickish move.
Didn't see it happen myself, otherwise I would've piled in shouting, like when the other guy got chucked out for repeated warnings about not sitting down. Personally, I can't see the premise for being asked to remove a 'Bates Out' t-shirt. I can't see it being legally enforceable. Btw, I spoke to 2 of the cops on the way out. Really good humoured, followed every minute of the match, were clearly Leeds supporters, and it was obvious to me that they sympathised with the LUST group. (They had to be good humoured - we were screaming out for stewards to be arrested for assault. We were probably a bit OTT, tbh).
safe to say the goal was achieved, to make bates feel uncomfortable with all the LUST lot breathing down his neck. No doubt it'll be mentioned in Wednesday's propaganda weekly.
If we have been filmed, as the bouncers, sorry, stewards suggested, then there may be some more retribution in the pipeline.
If it was the guy in the ESU his shirt read BALLS TO BATES... he was asked to cover it up or he would be thrown out....He also had a banner which he bought from the club shop that he wrote Bates out on. The purples didn't know what to do about it. In the end we were aloud to hold up anything we liked. Can I just point out again the police were very polite and very fair, It's Bates purple coats that are the problem, who on earth would want to hire thugs to make sure paying supporter tow the club line, when you've got a police force as experienced as West Yorkshire Police at handling football crowds. (You can tell I'm getting older coming out with statements like that ) Give me the WYP every time over Bates mob. I do expect to be banned from the club very soon
Devil's advocate: If we can demand a fan at another club is removed from their ground for wearing a Turkish shirt (yeah, I know, it's an issue we have an issue with for very good reason) - even though the guy may be Turkish! and thus have every right to wear it and may wear it at every other game - then Bates having a problem with this shirt and kicking someone out because of it is only a small next step. What LUST can do every match, is force Bates to spend extra money by spreading propaganda about being in a certain area of the ground for each match. You won't necessarily be at the match - or in that area of the ground - but it would be fun to keep him running
I'm not entirely convinced that Bates is personally affected by the chants. I believe he's more concerned about the prawn sandwich brigade (and their money) getting pissed off.
I don't care if it effects him or not it made me feel a lot better If he offered customer service instead of intimidation I think he could save a bomb in purple coats. Never mind dictators don't work like that do they.
I enjoyed it too, funnily enough, and look forward to the next event. Can't say I enjoyed paying £8.50 to transfer tbh, then negotiate 1992 stairs to get there. Knees are still clicking even now! It wasn't just the Nazis in purple that annoyed me. They simply executed the men in black requests. They're the ones that really upset me. Btw, do you think Bates might invest a little more at the next event? If he did, the bouncers could do 1 on 1 man marking. Nearly had it this time!
You could sell them as official merchandise in the club shop, not only would they sell like hot cakes but they would give Bates even more of your hard earned money to not reinvest in the club. Everyone wins!
MFC-Lion. I take your point. WhiteJock: The older bloke in black seemed quite reasonable to me was hard but fair. The others were knobs, the younger one with the Sargent's stripes on his arm do you think he really wanted to be a copper. I must admit it felt a bit like being at a early 80's away game, mind you we didn't take our own solicitor with us in the old days.
I agree that there was one MIB that seems ok. There were others a few rows back who were trying to look sinister & pointing/talking to the orangies. There was also a young one who I just wanted to punch, just because of the look of him. The 2 'response' guys looked like they should have been at the front of a National front demo. Like the solicitor idea. I was wondering about a load of us having camcorders next time to spook the 'officials'. Sorry I didn't get over to say hello. I had no idea what you or Gary looked like, mainly 'cos I was late back form my funeral on Thursday & couldn't attend the meeting, plus I was late arriving on Sat as I had a training session in Harrogate. Next time ....
Look forward to meeting you at the next meeting all being well, you can't take camcorders in the ground but a lot of lads used their phones instead.
