I'm getting a bit concerned that he is still a couple of weeks away from playing that means he misses the season start now? what actually is the problem ?
Quote from CH after Brighton game - “We’re hoping that Michael (Turner will play some part on Friday (against Braga). He is closer than Seb,” said Hughton. “Seb is maybe a week or two behind him. It is going to be very, very tight whether he makes the start of the season or not. We’re disappointed that we haven’t had them for the bulk of pre-season. Seb and Michael both had small operations in the summer and they are a little bit behind the rest. Pilks has got a slight knee problem but he will be fine. He has missed this game and he will probably miss Friday as well.” Snoddy didn't travel to Brighton due to a family issue. Yes, it is a concern, but one we have to accept, as I'd rarther he wasn't rushed back and then be out for longer thrugh coming back too soon!!!!!
Hughton said last night he would be touch and go for the start of the season. Poor bastard carried an injury for a big part of the end of last season and played through it and its caught up. Turner will be back before pre season ends Not good, how much is this Toby guy again?
i think turner and in particular bassong are the only concerns so far. i wouldn't really like to start the season without one of them, let alone both but it does seem turner should be back soon. however, he won't have much fitness and this is a worry as he needs to be sharp. we could be a bit stretched defensively over the first month of the season. i think i'd quite like to see russell martin play centre half alongside ryan bennett even if turner is back - maybe ease him and bassong in during the cup game and take it from there.
Although ideally I would love us to kick off this season with Seb and Turner at the back, Russ and R.Bennett are both good cover for them (slight reservations about Ayala on the other hand, but that's simply because I haven't seen much of him).
I just posted in the transfer thread about this and that I think we should be looking at a quality CB as a priorority.
I saw Ayala came on yesterday, which may be a sign that he is at least in Hughton's plans. Anyone at the game - how did he do?
Going by the Twitter updates he made a couple of decent blocks/clearances and one panicky one. He's actually played a fair bit sand featured reguarly in the USA
