Think I read we have shot more from distance than any other team in the PL SuperHusky! We shot a lot today as well, but obviously not good enough - free kicks were terrible. Adel's shot against the post was fantastic.
Really Oslo?: well fair enough then. It just seemed tonight that we didn't make Given work very much, despite the shots we may have had. Still, hopefully the goals will come, and not all the defences in the league will be as well drilled as Villa's
We dominated possession and the stats yet again and walked away with a draw against an unbeaten side. If that's the result of Barton and several others playing 'poorly', I'd take that any day of the week. It will happen every now and then. This is the premiership and we have to get used to it quickly. I just get a little worried when fans start jumping on Barton's back after three games. We know his heart lies elsewhere at the moment and his commitment to the club seems so artificial at times, imagine his attitude if he lost our support?!
I didn't think Joey played so well against Newcastle or today, best against Wolves, but reckon he is doing a great job as Captain on the pitch - especially noticeable in Adel's far more solid performances, he's passing more and tracking back far more than before Joey came.
This is not about getting on Barton's back - just some observations on his performance. Undoubtedly this was a good point against a well-drilled side. However, can you honestly say that Barton played well; or that conversations should not be started to comment on this? SWP and Tabs weren't quite as effective as they were in other matches: but their focus and endeavour seemed greater than Joey's today. Like I stated in the original post, I hope he returns to his normal self soon: but stated simply he was off the pace today. Acknowledging this is not tantamount to withdrawing our support from him
I'm getting the impression constructive criticism isn't allowed? I don't there's anybody who isn't ecstatic with the situation we find ourselves in at QPR, but this is an opinion forum is it not; so every aspect of the game should be discussed- good and bad. I was disappointed with Barton. I expected him to grab the game by the nuts after we went 1 down, but instead it was adel who was encouraging the side and putting in 100%. Barton grabbed the ball out of the net, but after that he was anonomous. I didn't see any communication between Barton and the other players, and as captain that's pretty suprising. I fully expect Joey to put in a performance next week, and i'm loving being an R's fan right now, but he didn't have a great game this afternoon!
"I'm getting the impression constructive criticism isn't allowed?" =========================================== Nope, that's allowed.
So my plan is working. I'm trying to stock pile as many Brownie points as possible so that some day I can launch a God-awful tirade against all and sundry yet have enough in the bank so as not to get kicked off the site! Cunning plan, eh?
Basically, i agree with WBA & Swords. In comparison with our overall outlook before the beginning of the season;- Are we ................. Playing above expectation? Positioned in the table beyond expectation? Achieved more points than we expected? Had the larger % of play & shots on goal, over the opposition ( all established Premiership Clubs. ) than expected? Would we have six months ago been bewildered at the likes of Villa and Newcastle timewasting to get a draw against us? Expected 5/6 new signing to all be introduced at once, to leave you now feeling the way you do. As apposed to three days ago. I will leave you to reach your own conclusions on this. To my mind, yes we could of been out of sight by half-time. We weren't. We had to expect a Villa reaction. We got one. A questionable descision went against us. ( We've got to get used to that i'm afraid. ) We came back, and got a result against an established , never relegated from the prem team. Remember, it was only 6 months ago we were losing ( Heavily ) to S****horpe. Where are we now? I don't deny we have a lack of cutting edge, and not all of our new signings over-impressed. But lets buy into it and stay positive, its all good.
It's almost as if we should be so deliriously happy about our position in the Prem that this stifles all debate and criticism. After our first game and the seeming lack of support from the (then) board, there would have been little point in going mad at the team and slagging them off. Observation on an individuals performance is not about being negative or against that particular player, however. No doubt there is plenty to be positive about: the signing of Barton being one of the positives; a point against a decent Villa side another; however, if a player (in my opinion, and others seemingly) Barton played poorly. However, this is apparently treason and an unspeakable crime given our new found confidence in the Prem. Its gonna get pretty insipid on here if we can't critically evaluate the players performances
Well said. Whilst I don't agree with you, you must give your honest opinion. I would hope there's no-one trying to shut people up.
The bar has been raised player and performance wise, so we can't keep using the tired old line of ''3 weeks ago we would've loved this result'' etc etc. We are in the now.
Barton is a good player Husky, ( a great player for us. ATM ) World Class he is not. We have to fork out £ 50 million for them. He is what he is. He won't be motm every week, and nor should we expect him to be. Overall, through the course of the season he will be more good than bad. I think you contradict yourself a bit in the above statement, and I get the impression that you wern't going when we were ****e, or that your young. Keep calm, wind your neck in. We've never had it so good.
I thought we played very well and could have won the game. I also think that giving Barton Jip after only three games is a bit heavy. The jist of this thread suggests to me that I was watching a completely different game entirely. Can people not remember the soul-destroying up an' under hacking hoof-ball that we were playing even last season? It don't compare!
Right, so now my comments must be dictated by how much I've been to QPR over the years, or by my age: neither of which you have absolutely no idea about!!
Ahh so it's not the above you don't agree with Swords? Re Barton, no one is disputing we played well and could have won the game, and i don't think anyone is making a damning assessment of Barton as a player either. This is purely in relation to his performance today. What do people think? For me his play was average, but his performance as a captain was sub-par. He'll be back with a vengance V Fulham though i reckon
Obviously lost in translation Grift. I agreed 100% with that statement above!! I was just making the point that whilst I didn't agree re Barton, the lad has every right to his opinion. P.S. This is getting a bit tasty between '999 and Husky innit? Grift, can you pass the popcorn?
