Would love to see the back of him....but why would a club take him if he can't play?? And if we're sending him to a lower division because they have more games then presumably we'll recall him as soon as the ban us finished? Again, why would a club take him? Sounds like a loan of convenience and we've found a loop hole in the system.

If and It's a big if, they or any other club loaned JB then they would/should insist on a season long loan, with us paying about 50% of his wages.

I may be wrong about this, but my understanding was that Joey's ban doesn't apply to the Championship and therefore MH wanted to get something £ back and have Joey playing, up until he's able to play in the Prem. It isn't inconceivable that if we have a few injuries around Christmas, we may need him...

It's an FA ban, applies to all games played in England...

Joey served two of his three games last season in the FA Cup games...

QUOTE Joey Barton is wanted by Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones, according to The People.

It has been suggested that QPR are looking to send Barton on loan to the Championship, where the volume of games early in the season means his 12-match ban would be served quicker. UNQUOTE

So, Joey goes off to Wednesday, who pay half his wages, and although he can't play, his ban is served quicker. Then, as soon as the ban is served, we call him back to Loftus Road. Good thinking, Sparky...but even Dave Jones isn't stupid enough to fall for that one

He has to serve a 12 game ban before he plays in England again. So we could send him abroad permanently and he can play straight away. But if he comes back there will still be the ban waiting for him. So if he goes to Weds, he serves his twelve games, then can play for them to make it worthwhile for them he has to stay a bit longer to actually play for them. So hopefully loan til January, out of our 25, which means we couldn't bring him back, then sell/ re-loan.

    Jones would bring in Barton

Owls boss admits to being keen on QPR midfielder

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has revealed that he would be keen on signing Joey Barton if the midfielder becomes available.

Barton faces an uncertain future at Queens Park Rangersfollowing his sending-off on the final day of last season.

A reckless red card against Manchester City has cost the former England international a 12-match ban.

Reports suggest that QPR boss Mark Hughes, who has already stripped Barton of the captaincy at Loftus Road, would be open to loan offers.

Should that prove to be the case, Wednesday would be prepared to make an approach.

    Reputation

Jones is looking to piece together a side that can be competitive upon their return to the Championship, and is confident he could bring the best out of Barton.

"If he did become available it's something we would look at, but there would be many things to consider," said the Owls boss.

"I wouldn't be frightened of bringing him here if he became available.

"His reputation would not put me off."
