    Nick,
That is what I said in my earlier post.. IF we have other options i.e. Palacious go for him.. and I see that QPR are reported to be interested.. S S News.
Either way, Ric he is a decent player but as for his personality.. it sucks!

Who knows but according to Tony Pulis he had already asked the player's IF they would welcome him. It seem's they would so.. let's see what happens.

I think we will struggle to get anyone better than Barton and we desperatley need at least 2 decent CM's! I'm not defending him, but no one seems to mond the fact that Woodgate alledgedley stamped on a defenssless man's head!

but Woodgate isnt an absolute TOOL on the pitch!!!!!. Every club Barton has been to he has caused havoc both on the pitch and on the training ground. Ive said before and ill say again....I cant believe that we are in a position where Joey Barton is the only CM we can get at stoke. Every game hes been involved in THIS SEASON there have been "incindents". I think some people want success that badly that all morals have been thrown out of the window. Hes a ticking time bomb and If I was the manager I wouldnt even think of signing him.

ONE BIG difference re QPR have 100 grand a week to throw away... we KNOW Mr Coates won't do that and i'm thankful he won't. And Nasri HOW freekin much a WEEK? 300, 000 quid... Jesus Christ isn't worth that much. Citeh must be mega, mega rich. <doh>

Is that really how much Nasri is on?! Effin hell. He ain't worth that, mind you no footballer is worth that. Have you seen what Eto'o is on at that Russian club he went to? He's on about 20 million Euros a season which equates to about £337k a week!!!

Such wages are OBSCENE. No footballer is worth anything like those amounts. Who is to blame? Those mega rich sheiks at the likes of Man City.

Sounds like the quoted £100k a week for Barton has been exaggerated. Sounds like it's nearer £70k a week.

It would seem Barton has had his medical at QPR but still not signed.

Barton, I think it's around 60 grand he's been offered sorry mate.
And, I may have confused the Eto salary with Nasri not sure but, it's way OTT anyway.
Saw the interview with Eto's agent this morning...
When asked about wages he said... no comment but it must be mega bucks.

No idea about the validity of this story but...

    http://www.eyefootball.com/news/10404/Stoke-and-QPR-battle-for-Joey-Barton-deal

Joey Barton has some big decisions to make this weekend, as Stoke City have made an offer for the Newcastle midfielder as well as Queens Park Rangers. According to reports, Barton has already had a medical at Loftus Road and is due in Stoke for a medical either today or this weekend.
Barton had been told only two weeks ago that he is free to leave Newcastle on a free transfer, after a number of high profile comments on Twitter about the Newcastle board.

Alan Pardew then gave Barton a glimmer of hope as he played the midfielder against Arsenal in the Premier League opener two weeks ago.

However, it appears that Barton has still been told he can leave the club, and a deal is expected to go through before the end of the transfer window.

If we DO get him, we will need cover for him because he will be suspended for a large part of the season!

I would suspend the bugger from the nearest tree

oey Barton completes his move from Newcastle to QPR on a four-year-deal. Barton said: "The ambition of the club really impressed me. To get things finally sorted and draw a line under it all is a great relief."
