    This also happens to be the magazine that published Stephen Ireland's comments about Houllier and Birmingham, which he retracted the same day, saying they had been taken out of context.

    If he is a traditional Scouser and intersperses 'la' into his sentences the French press would be confused as hell.

    Very well said - I remember thinking the same thing when I first him interviewed. He is very eloquent when compared to other footballers that I've heard. I have to say, that I'm not 100% convinced that these words are directly from Barton himself. I just can't put these sentences in his mouth...

    Pards has stood by Barton.

    Credit to Pardew for that. He hasn't been pushed around by the media and basically told them to get stuffed. Handled it well.

    Barton could easily have said these things. He is very honest in interview so might have sais something along those lines. Nowt wrong with what he said in my opinion
