The Birmingham midfielder has been linked with a departure from St Andrews following Blues' relegation from the Premier League. It is thought the Scotland international wants to move north to be nearer his family and Blackpool have expressed an interest in the 33-year-old, who has one year left on his contract. But that has alerted Bolton and Sunderland, who would both be able to offer Ferguson the chance to stay in the Premier League. Bolton boss Owen Coyle is looking to bolster his midfield and sees Ferguson as an attractive option. Meanwhile, ambitious Sunderland have made a string of signings as they look to improve on last season's ninth-place finish, with Craig Gardner having already moved to Wearside from Birmingham this summer.

This sums up the bone idle lazy journos this crap came from mate, unless I've been asleep for a year and we did finish 9th last season. Barry Ferguson has been the best SPL import but, at present won't get anywhere near our squad.
Just answered that on the Ferguson thread mate, think we are thinking along the same lines, decent but not good enough for SAFC at present.
Don't rate him in the slightest... Is Bruce planning on playing with half a dozen central midfielders every game?
please let this be bull. Maybe three or four years ago i would have taken him but not now. Also why the **** do we need him, Catts, Gardner, Vaughan, Colback, Richardson, Meyler (When fit) can all play there, get a wide man in with some pace and skill please mr Bruce, oh and if he can score goals too that would be a bonus.
Why in the world would we want another central midfielder, especially a 33 yr old has been who never quite made it and would do nothing to improve the team or dressing room! ..... absolute rubbish journalism
Lazy journos for the simple fact this signing goes against bruce, quinns and shorts ethic of getting young, hungry players in. Brown and O'Shea have been brought in to bring the expierance that we had with Zenden last year. We do not need another CM as aswell as already been stated O'Shea, Malbranque and Anton can play CM as well.
I know a club closer to Scotland who will be in the premier league one more season. Not sure if his french is up to scratch though. j'aime lé battered mars bar.
