Ok haven't done one of these in a very long time but it's a vote to decide. It appears looking across our board opinion is divided, so no in between, quite simply one choice Barrett or Davies? Views welcome and can we please try and keep on topic...
You haven't got a 'neither' option ! I know Davies hasn't had much time on the pitch - but when he has played he hasn't inspired me with any confidence that he is capable of 'commanding' the centre of defence - -this is the hallmark of a good central defender. Davies gets outmuscled and outwitted by attackers too often for my liking. I'm not sure if he's ready for L1 just yet. It's a shame that Barrett's legs are slowing him down - because for all his faults, he does have experience on his side - for a lot of the time it gets him out of trouble - but perhaps he has had his best (L1) days.
Ok I have gone for Barrett, purely to annoy you brb. Lol. Only joking. Davies needs games, there's no doubting that, and personally I would choose neither, I would choose both. A little change to the system we play could benefit the team massively. I would like to see a 3-3-2-2 formation something a little like this set up: Bayo (FW), Cody (FW) Dack (CM), Hessenthaler (CM) Harriman (LWB), Gregory (DCM), Martin (RWB) Legge (CB), Davies (CB), Barrett (CB) Nelson (GK) I think that would give the squad strength and flexibility and use current players to their potential. Just a thought. UTG
Barrett for me.His experience is a lot better than Davies inexperience. What little I've seen of seen of Davies ( and I haven't seen him in an away game) does not fill me with confidence, and obviously it hasn't MA or now Peter Taylor. Taylor has had no fear of playing the youngsters, and I think he probably only played Davies because he felt Barrett needed a rest or he would have been in before now. I bet Davies won't play again for sometime unless Legge or Barrett get injured, and anyway, I think we will sign another centre back on loan when the window opens next week.
Davies! Our best spell last season was when we played Barrett and Davies together. Also the first two games Davies started this season were our first two wins. Coincidence? Nope. Give him a couple of games to get match sharp and he will show why he was above Essam in the pecking order
