A disappointing and very frustrating game.

We never got going and could easily have got a draw, but we were never under control and one goal could always “nick it” one way or another… and it went „the other”!

Techically, I guess that we missed a the fluid game play of Johansen and the magic of Willock.

On an emotional basis, “Charity Park Rangers” turned up to their „bogey” team of Barnsley.

This is the Championship and we need to pick ourselves up and thump Millwall!

Anyway, I will have a strong drink to relax this evening! I think that I need it!

    Na Zdrowie! :)

I don’t get the impression they’ve fallen out. Just that he doesn’t rate him and it’s not like he’s brilliant. In a midfield two he’s very limited. But Hendrick should have to earn a place.

If we play like that again this season i will be seriously pissed off. 30 or 40 minutes worth of passing the ball between the back 3 and the keeper, ooooh how exciting. Barnsley just kept compact and let us do it as we didnt have a forward pass in us. Odebajo was the outlet all of the 1st half, yet it was much easier to just pass sideways and ignore him. The forwards might aswell no been on the pitch. With Field in the team, i really dont see the need for Hendrick at all. Give me Amos over Hendrick any day of the week. We totally lacked any progressive passing and us away fans were getting very frustrated. Then the best player on the pitch scored a belter. We then decided to try move forward with the ball. The much needed johanson came on and Austin for Gray. We decided to try and score at last!!! Adomah was introduced and we looked like we could bag a draw against the bottom team. Dykes should have right at the end! We got what we deserved for such a negative performance.

****ing cold, wet and negative. Field is a holding midfielder and generally goes about his business, why oh why have we put Hendrick in there with him. Its basically 7 defensive players. Gray looks like hes running in treacle and Chair was at times having to drop so deep to get the ball. Of course we missed Willock but that is no excuse today. Barnsley had a game plan. Let us do absolutely **** all with the ball in places where it cant hurt them and hope for a snatch and grab. It worked.

A total lack of creativity, movement, positive attitude, forward passing and wrong selections cost us today. Any team in this league would love us to play like that against them.

Maybe the shoe string is that tight that the club just don't have that extra couple of hundred thousand to spend....on top of whatever wages he was demanding? Our owners have been burnt before, do we really want to be skating close to exceding our FFP limits again?

Been out all day....... decent late lunch at a nice hotel overlooking a lovely bay with rain sweeping in off the surrounding hills........ that was enjoyable.......

As for the R's....... well I believe most of us knew what was going to happen, you could see it coming a mile off....... doesn't make it any easier to accept but these things happen...... Scunthorpe 4-1 in our championship winning year anyone????

What is important is how we regroup and perform on Tuesday at Millwall........ that new becomes a very significant game, at least we still have a 5 point cushion to 7th......

    Keep the faith

I actually think Field needs someone in there with him because our full backs generally play really high, meaning it's not 7 defensive players.
Also, when we play two tens, we're really exposed in midfield.

We seem (in my opinion) to cause teams a whole heap of trouble with 2 no.10's.
Honestly Col, the frustrations amongst the fans was plain to hear. Just ****ing go forward or what the hell is the point of having 2 strikers on.

The wing-backs were both pretty dire. Wallace especially had at least four really good opportunities and fluffed them all. I can’t really blame Dykes (last minute sitter aside) and Gray given the lack of service.

I hear what youre saying. It seemed totally pointless having them both up top as the ball very rarely reached them.

    Yes, it seems a conundrum.

Warbs picks attacking line ups, but seems to favour too much negative possession.

Promotion to the Premier League might help a tad don't you think ? How much is Hendrick's wages ? I bet we were stupid enough to agree with Newcastle that if we took him on loan he had to play a certain amount of games ! How many games is he gonna win us ? Not as many as Paterson or another attacking midfielder would have ! Warburton needs to realise there are players in this squad that aren't very good or are simply snagged out or aren't in form. Amos should be starting in midfield instead of Johansen or Hendrick atm, neither of those have shown energy or enough attacking prowess in recent weeks. Don't get me started with Odebajo, I can't recall us winning a game that he's started. If Adomah is knackered out which is understandable we should've got in a decent stand in. McCallum needs to be brought in for Wallace too now as he looks like he's ****ered too, needs a rest

We have three players capable of carrying the ball and two weren’t playing so it was all on Chair. Field did the job he always does and Hendrick was totally anonymous, IMO. We’ve been rinsing every bit out of Willock and Adomah recently and you need the likes of Odubajo to take their opportunities. Instead he was ****ing dreadful.

If one of Willock/Chair can’t play, I’d still go with two off of Dykes. Adomah could be one of those two as as much as he gives it everything he’s not a wing-back.

I think that's the reason he's never been given tge job at a Premier League side, he's a good coach and I like him but he's not a top manager. If you gave me a choice of him or Wilder or him or Quasimodo at Forest I'm afraid I'd have either of the other 2.

You're obsessed with Paterson ffs<laugh> Until the last week of January nobody had really heard of him of thought that he was the missing link...... then all of a sudden he falls out of favour at Swansea and all of a sudden we must buy him......... Firstly nobody outside the club knows what was offered or what his personal terms were, secondly he's not exactly been prolific since getting back into the Swansea side....... Thirdly he's 30 and would have no resale value........ Finally we have to trust Hoos has got the money side sorted and if he says we can;t afford him that's the end of the story..........ffs<laugh>

We can come up with all the excuses in the world for losing to the team coming dead last but at the end of the day, nothing said is acceptable.

    What a pathetic loss.

I feel a tad sorry for Amos. No matter ones opinion of him, the last few times he has played, hes made driving forward runs. Gives our defenders at least a ****ing option of a forward pass. Hendrick is a space covering player. Just slots in where someone has vacated. Doesnt really add any other dimensions to our game. Field is more than capable without Hendrick.

A gamble - the owners obviously thought the odds that Paterson was the missing link weren't worth it
