I'm guessing Hughton rates R Martin as a better centre back than him otherwise I can't see the point in letting him go, one injury and or suspension and we'll be short of centre backs. Good luck to him nevertheless can learn a bit off a decent centre back they've got managing them!
A vote of conference in Ryan Bennett then too. Good to see him get game time, are we now Cardiff's "feeder team"? Malky, Bellamy, Lappin, now Barnett.
If we end up playing against Lappin with Cardiff in the prem next year ...I just don't think my heart could take it
has lappin even played yet? every time i look at their team sheet he's not in it or even on the bench
He played when he first went there. 1st 2 games resulted in 1 yellow (1st game) and sent off in the next I believe. No trace of him since.
Barny will do well there - he'll be Malky's kind of player. I have a work colleague who supports Cardiff and he says the reaction there is very favourable and they're pleased with him signing. When I asked about Lapps he said "who ?"
There's a glut of players at the club that seem to have disappeared off the face of the Earth as Malky sticks to his narrow band of favourites. Mason, Kimbo, Mutch, Ralls, Velikonja, Kiss, Harris, Lappin.......the list goes on and on. We really shouldn't complain about anything given the position Malky has got us into, but if he's guilty of one thing that he appears to have brought with him from his Watford days, it's his apparent aversion to change. Last season we had Kenny Miller up front game after game, and he couldn't the proverbial cow's backside for love nor money. Then we got Maynard in for this season and he did his cruciates in his third game and is out all season. Fraizer Campbell is here now and is in very much the same mould as Nicky - there should be one hell of a battle next season between the two of them for top gun. As far as Lappin is concerned, unless Andrew Taylor has another bump (the reason we had Lappin on loan), he won't get a game this season.
I respect Malky so much, but if he's genuinely letting Jordon Mutch rot he's an idiot. Massive talent and potential.
Jordan has had his injury problems this season to be fair, but as you say, a massively talented 21 year old that we captured from Brum at the start of the season. So glad he wanted to come to us rather than stay with them. I've watched him playing for the development squad and he's way above that level. The Gunnar is keeping him out of midfield with Whitts being an everpresent this season holding it together. With Fraizer and Bellamy up front, there's only been room in Malky's thinking for two wide guys. Lately it hasn't been working, and Jordan could make the difference by bringing him in to a 5 man midfield. If he's fit enough, he's far too good to be left out. (then again, so is Kimbo, Mason, Ralls...etc etc - for Christ's sake Malky, use some of them!)
I like Malky, for what it's worth when Barnett has a strong and vocal centre back next to him, he seems to play a lot better, and rarely has his lapses in concentration. With the right partner I think he is a good player. He showed it earlier in the season when he was keeping Turner out the team and Bassong was bossing him about. I hope he does well, and I gather he is pretty popular lad in the dressing room. I think Hudson would be an ideal partner for him at Cardiff and they could probably work well together.
