Alright chaps, I don't know if I have said before but since the days of Mendietta at Valencia when they got to the champions league final they have always been the team I have followed after SAFC obviously, I have even made it to the Mestalla once before.

Well to the point and I have seen they have made 3 new signings and they have got some absolute bargains

Sergio Canales who looked a class act at Santander before his move to Real Madrid and then to Valencia onloan last season has signed for 4m euros.

Fernando Gago who has played at the highest level for Real Madrid and played 30 odd games for Roma last season has signed for 3.5m euros

Joao Perreira who looked fantastic at right back for Portugal at the Euros has also signed for them this summer for 3.6m euros

That is just one clubs transfer business this summer, I also know Wolfsburg signed arguably the Czech's best player of the tournament in the left winger Pilar for just 1m!!!

My point is especially Valencia have shown there is absolute bargains to be had across europe, they have signed 3 players there for around 11m that imagine if they were in our side would add so much class and be on a different level to the quality of players that we have! 11m thats less than how much Gardner and Wickham cost us last season.

This is why the club should get the scouts out and searching for players across Europe, those prices Valencia paid and when you see us signing Gardner for 5.5-6m last season its a joke. He isn't half as good as any of them three!

    thats not my point

I am using them as examples, no player in there right mind would choose us over Valencia but it just shows there is bargains to be had around europe

You probably have to put £1m om a footballers pay to attract him here rather than Valencia - or anywhere.

COMM, it realy comes down to money, not location, any player in the world would come to England for the dosh. Even Sunderland for the right money. I dont believe Valencia pays better wages than Sunderland. In fact they were sinking under a debt burden last year, hence the selling of their best players. so I do think poolie has a valid point.

    lads

in the article I wasn't saying that we should be going after the likes of Perreira, Gago and Canales because at the minute players of that quality are probably out of our reach especially with a side like Valencia wanting and getting them

the point I was making was each of these players has been signed for 4m or less!!!!

My point is if quality players like that are going for peanuts and the Czech lad who has gone to Wolfsburg just to name a few off the top of my head then surely we need a top class scouting network out there getting us some very good players for hardly anything.

Those players who Valencia have signed cost less than Wickham and Gardner and that shows how much better value for money is abroad and I hope SAFC and MoN are taking note.

    Comm

But my point is you have to offer over the odds to get players attracted to come to us - sad but I think true.

Each player costs us probs £3 - £4m more than other clubs because we aint won anything for 39 years, we've been yo-yo, and our town is crap!Years gone by we got really good players - Shack, Ford, Bingham 'cos we were Sunderland. Same as every other club but bigger! More money, more fans, more success.

Now we are Sunderland. A mediochre premiership team.

We need to builf from within, cos nobody knows us now, except us.

Truth hurts. Am sick of it x

There is definitely better value abroad and there's no excuse for us or any other prem team not to be scouting it properly.

Cabaye and Cisse cost the same as wickham and Gardner for crying out loud
