As it's a Bank Holiday in the UK today (you lucky people) here's a Bank Holiday trivia quiz. 10 questions for you to peruse.

    1. The season Southport failed to get re-elected to the league they actually finished 23rd and not bottom of Division Four. Who finished 7 points adrift at the bottom?

    2. League One Play-Off winners Peterborough’s highest ever league finish is 10th in (what is now) The Championship. In which season?

    3. Who were the fist ever champions of (what is now) The Conference?

    4. Stevenage have just completed back-to-back promotions, but who beat them in the Conference Play-Offs the season before promotion?

    5. Last time Championship Playoff finalists Swansea City got promoted to the top flight, which two sides went up with them?

    6. In the season that Championship Playoff finalists Reading last got promoted to the Premier League they lost only two league fixtures. Against which teams?

    7. Manchester Utd won the Premier League by 9 points. In which season was the space between 1st and 2nd last greater than that?

    8. Who were the last League Champions under the 2 points for a win system?
    A. ASTON VILLA - pompeymeowth

    9. Which was the first season in which Goal Difference was used in England instead of Goal Average?

    10. When Portsmouth were relegated from the top flight in 1988, FOUR sides were relegated. Who were relegated 4th bottom?

Well done for having a go without looking them up.

You got one right (No.8 - Aston Villa) and you are one season out on one of the which season questions

Ok, its after 11pm, the BBC606 is closed for ever, so I've got to show a bit of flash. With counter questions!!!!

1 Rochdale, why weren't they booted out then?

2 1992/3, who saved a penalty against us for P'boro that year?

3 Altrincham, who was one of their most famous (eccentric, to say the least) fans, he recently died?

4 Cambridge Utd, whom did the U's (or whatever their nickname is) replace when they entered the league?

5 West Ham & Notts County, the latter being famous for what?

6 Plymouth and Luton, how many points did they get deducted respectively

7 2004-5 Chelsea who finished how many points clear of Man U?

8 Aston Villa, who used a very low amount of players that year, how many?

9 1976-1977. I can't believe it was so recent, Portsmouth many years ago got promotion on the strength of this in 1926-7 they scored 87 conceded 49 to Man citeh's 108 to 61 record, can anyone explain it? Cos I havn't a clue

10 Ha! Chelsea, cackle. Last one, why don't people like Chelsea much?!

2 1992/3, who saved a penalty against us for P'boro that year? PASS

3 Altrincham, who was one of their most famous (eccentric, to say the least) fans, he recently died? – DON’T KNOW BUT RICKY PONTING (HE’S QUITE FAMOUS – BUT ALIVE) BECAME A MAJOR SHARE HOLDER IN 2009!

4 Cambridge Utd, whom did the U's (or whatever their nickname is) replace when they entered the league? BRADFORD PARK AVE (1970)

5 West Ham & Notts County, the latter being famous for what? OLDEST LEAGUE SIDE

6 Plymouth and Luton, how many points did they get deducted respectively 10 & 30

7 2004-5 Chelsea who finished how many points clear of Man U? 18 (12 CLEAR OF 2ND PLACED ARSENAL)

8 Aston Villa, who used a very low amount of players that year, how many? (GUESS) 14?

9 1976-1977. I can't believe it was so recent, Portsmouth many years ago got promotion on the strength of this in 1926-7 they scored 87 conceded 49 to Man citeh's 108 to 61 record, can anyone explain it? Cos I havn't a clue 87/49 = 1.77551. 108/61 = 1.77049

10 Ha! Chelsea, cackle. Last one, why don't people like Chelsea much?! WE’D GET BORED IF WE ONLY HATED MAN UTD <laugh>

Ha ha! Here are the ones you didn't get.

2 Ian Bennet. A vastly underated keeper.

3 Frank Sidebottom, he of the papier maché head. Here he is.

8 I don't know either, but it wasn't many, old Ron Saunders was a wily old bird.

A record they look likely to hold onto for some considerable time.

    Thanks Dude!

All sorts of rumours are flying around at the moment, so I'm going to stick my head into the Cotswold buff, and come out when it's all over.
