can't see how heskey would be an addition for this generation - would he still have the fight, passion, belief, energy and will in what will be an absolute dogfight next year in a division he hasn't played in

dont want to be a heretic bu..........t...................... the jury would be out ...

I'm inclined to agree, though I love him I do think we'd be better off with younger strikers who score goals. As I said before, would I have him playing ahead of Yakubu, Maynard, Waghorn, Schlupp or Kamara? The answer is no. And I wouldn't have him above Shane Long or Danny Graham either.

I'll be worried if Sven sticks to the big names and what he knows - eg Heskey, Vassell, all of the loans, Schemiechal, etc.

...like the idea of this young mexican/english striker, but if we do manage to sign him and proves himself he would be off at christmas.... maybe end of the season max, I suppose that's how it all works, mind you if he could bang in 20 goals before he went...

I don't get this love in with Waghorn. He was very very good for the season under Pearson but he has been truly awful this season. His first touch has been terribel and he can trap a ball further than I can kick it. Waggy was been woeful and if he doesnt improve over the summer he needs loanng out to a league 1 top club to gain experience then reintroduce him back to the fold. Schlupp - totally unproven and has been doing well for the Bees but he needs testing in friendlies over the summer. Heskey is proven and is a great player but he aint no natural goalscorer. If we play Heskey, we need a poacher alongside him, like Owen. The only question is, will these two or others like them from the PL have the fight to drop a league and roll their sleeves up? Because, it wont be easy for them.

I'm not keen on this pensioners 11 route we're going on. I mean Heskey and Owen, really? We need some young players who will be long term investments and will allow us to play good football. I refuse to believe Heskey is the only player who can hold a ball up. Owen was a great finisher but every time I've seen him over the past couple of seasons he's just not looked the player he was. What we really need is a mixture of these 2. Someone who is strong, energetic and can score goals. Partnering these 2 up front would also mean changing our current formation, a formation that suits our style of play. And I can't see it getting us loads of goals. I've been critical of the Yak but I'd rather we have him than those 2.

I don't get all this hate of Waghorn. Yeh he's had a bad season - a season where he's made limited appearances and has obviously felt under pressure to prove himself. Somebody mentioned recently that one of the reasons he's bladting it over the bar all the while is probably because he's desperate to prove something and so is snatching at chances everytime he sees the goal. The fact that he was doing far more than Vassell whenever he came on and still not getting picked can't have helped. Does this bad season erase last season, when a man under less pressure and almost no expectation looked a very valuable asset in this league? People seem to have short memories.

Schlupp - yes no experience at this level but also a young man with obvious potential who will have the hunger to prove something. Sometimes you have to take a chance on players - Sven has already said he rates him and that he will be pushing for the first team next season. We know what we're getting from Heskey - and frankly it's not much. He would never be more than a plan B. I'd rather have a younger more exciting player in the team.
