Vincent Tan set for £2.5 court showdown with Malky Mackay over compensation deal - reports

After Cardiff City owner Tan sacked Mackay on Friday, telling him he was unwilling to hand over any compensation, the Sunday Sun are today reporting there will be a courtroom battle for £2.5m

Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is facing a six month court battle with owner Vincent Tan as he fights for his compensation – according to reports.

After their high-profile fall-out ultimately led to Mackay's sacking last week, the Scot now faces a courtroom battle for his £2.5m compensation package as the Sunday Sun says the Malaysian billionaire is refusing to pay up a penny.

The report also says that Mackay will not be “able to consider another job in football” until the situation is concluded and that in his infamous e-mail, Tan told the Scot he would not willingly hand over any compensation.

The Bluebirds, who drew 2-2 with Sunderland yesterday are now just two points clear of the Premier League drop-zone heading into 2014.

Tan will buy the best legal advice and Malky will have to answer awkward questions about his time hear. If he can't take a job in the meantime his crown might slip once things are in the open.

Interesting that Tan is refusing to pay this, I had it as a given.
Whatever is not known at the moment will be if this goes to court.

Well Langstons took us to court that was thrown out as a joke.

We have only heard one side of the story if Malky was in breach of his contract.

I don't see how he could be in breach. Unless it's a confidentiality clause that he has broke.
For instance, if an email was sent personally to him and the contents were divulged to outside sources.

I thought he spent £35 million but sky showed his spending at £30.9 million? That leaves £4.1 million unaccounted for.

Not sure if we should say that until the truth comes out, this takes thinks to another level though.

I was only joking but it is usual for a sacked manager to get his compensation so not sure what the point of going to court is exactly.

Clearly either tan is an idiot, or he has thought this through, and has stuck his finger up at the managerial merry go round here in the UK, as no decent manager will touch your club with a barge pole now, who would want to manage a club that doesn't honour an agreement? He surely must be looking at some foreign manager from outside Europe, somewhere like Kurdistan?

He's getting a bigger clown by the minute, booing his team, not honouring contracts, really feel sorry for you guys, wouldn't want this at the Liberty...........<ok>

The media are not really interested in run of the mill boring grounds they concentrate on the big clubs and Cardiff just happens to be far more interesting to them than Swansea.

Phil - how do you know he was booing the team - from some edited Sky footage and a tool like Aussie posting it on your board?

The concensus is that he was booing the ref along with the rest of the fans for that mysterious 5 minutes of added time that cost us 2 points.

Also, the issue of the non-paying of the compensation said to be due to Malky is a bit like an iceberg - far more going on underneath the surface than we can see.

Despite the issues over "mad Tan" as portrayed by those that seem to want to earn some forum brownie points by raising it, there would be a list of managers as long as your arm who would jump at the chance of managing Cardiff City FC in the Premier League. <ok>

I have to admit you're bang on the money , who wouldn't want to be interested in your club , so many stories and intrigue which make good copy for the press, yes Swansea is boring .

I accept that the video footage could be misleading, but why put himself in the firing line? whether he was booing the Ref or the team neither is clever for a Chairman of a Premier league club. Secondly I thought Tan was averse to airing his dirty washing in the media, so how come he's been quoted on the compensation issue now with MM?

Finally I'm not sure who you are referring to regarding Brownie points, but that's not me, I leave that to the Aussiejerk!.............<ok>

The booing along with the fans(if thats what it was, nobody can say for certain so thats conjecture) might have been Tans idea of edearing himself and wanting to let the fans know he is with them on that.
But you can take any bit of video or get a photo and add your own caption, so anyone quoting this as fact is not very bright, anyone using it as a point is off their head more than Tan is.

The thing is that VT was not being too clever by adopting that behaviour knowing that the Sky cameras would be aimed in his direction at the end of the game.
