Ayala´s a Yella Hurrah, Hurrah, Another young fella Who could just go far, And just twenty, too Means he, in no way, Will affect the crew Of 25 on match day, Maybe we should try For his scouser namesake, Pacheco would fry Any defensive mistake, Or are we complete Now, at least until Jan, It´s there that the heat Is turned up for us fans, But he seems to be At a very good price, A back-up, to me No need to think twice, And if it should happen That he gets the nod, He could catch them nappin´ For he´s a very tall bod, And corners should suit Him, right down to a T, And if he is cute A few goals we could see, But maybe PL Has just seen something more, Enough to give him a spell In the back four. OTBC Exciting addition I´d say, and one for the future.
jg - an awful lot of Liverpool fans have come and said they really rate him and are disappointed to lose him
Sorry to be negative, but they rated him enough to buy him as a young prospect, then boot him out for a piteful 800,000k. Dont get me wrong I hope PL has seen something and made a canny move. But like I said, ill wait to decide that!!
I'm probably with jg on this one, BUT he is still very young, and only rarely do 20 year olds go for big prices, especially at CB. I actually agreed with one of the tarts on MoTD on Saturday (can't remember which one in particular) who said at CB, experience is everything. I think he was talking about Wes Brown being a bargain at 1M or so for Sunderland. Looking forward to seeing the lad play though, he can't be all that bad, and it's good competition as well.
Well I'm not with JG! I'm quite excited by this guy's potential. I agree that Wes Brown was a good buy at £1 million, but he's 32 this year. We now know that our policy, for better or worse, is to buy younger players with a view to the future. Will this work? It just might! Also, with the new rules regarding foreign players, some, who teams might want to have kept, suddenly aren't quite such a good prospect for them. I feel it's to our advantage that Liverpool are spending obscene amounts on English players, and letting bargains like this go.
Mr. Goss, I certainly wouldn´t put it past Mr. Lambert to bring out the best in him, and I know you say that Liverpool discarded him, but then again, Nottm F discarded Holt Blackpool discarded Fox Peterboro´ discarded Martin R Wolves discarded Surman and the list could go on and on, doesn´t really have any bearing, what is sour to the one, is sweet to the next.
As i said on another thread, all Ayala needs is a quality glaswegian manager, not like the one they have at Anfield
Couldn't the same be said of some of the signings last year. Fox signed for £75k and crofts for free. Both very good players.
Hey, im not righting him off, by any means. And we certainly wouldnt have been able to attract this sort of prospect to CR a few seasons ago, so it can only be good. Im just making the point that no one is really to sure how good he is yet. Theres certainly not much info on the net about him and although he had a couple of loan spells away from Anfield, most people who I have spoke to had not even heard of him before we signed him ( including me IAH). All the players above we at least had heard of and new what they were all about. Im just saying Ayala is some what of an unknown quantity. Defence is a cruicial part of our survival plan this season, and we are gonna need everyone in those positions on top of their game. No more SCHOOLBOY errors!!!!
Agree with you about the schoolboy errors, but I think you can bet your boots that, at least, neither De Laet or Whitbread will be doing that again. I actually rather fancy Ayala will be a success, even if not this season.
I'd argue that very few of us, Norwich fans at least, knew of Fox and R Martin. Both came in as unknowns. When we first signed Fox, for £75k, people would have looked at the money we paid and may have thought that he therefore wasn't that good. But look what he has done at the club in the last year - arguably one of our most important midfielders. As for R Martin, we didn't know what he potentially had in him as he only became a great player halfway through last season and had been average beforehand. Therefore I say before we judge Ayala we wait until he played. He could become another Fox or R Martin. Or maybe he is already good enough. Maybe he is a complete flop, we will just have to wait and see!
I still say we should never doubt the phenomenal Mr. Lambert! The most positive of us were saying half way through last season that PL only had one failure - Simeone Jackson! Then look what happened! Paul Lambert sees things in players that even they don't know they have IPLWT OTBC
Cannot argue with that. Although I never openly criticised Jacko last season I had some serious reservations about him until the Bristol City game when he started to show his true potential
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Střihavka Does anyone remember 'the sponge'??? Wonder whatever happened to him. I thought he was gonna be a legend, I even bet my mate a tenner he would score us twenty goals in a season. Has to be one of Norwichs biggest ever flops. Sorry, just got me thinking
