http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/...year/2007/english-league-championship?cc=5739 even in your promotion season we had a higher average attendance and we were in the bottom 3 for the majority of the season. Stoke's average attendance in a season in which they finished second and won promotion was just over 16,000. I believe the term is "Jog On" rant over
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/...year/2007/english-league-championship?cc=5739 Stoke's attendance when they won promotion and finished in 2nd was just under 17,000. Ours in the same season (of which we spent most of in the bottom 3) was just over 21,000 so Jog on
http://www.stokecityfc.com/page/MatchReport/0,,10310~38456,00.html This is from Stoke's promotion season and they were 2nd from top with only 4 games to play!...15,000?...LOL, even the Skates would get more than that!
I think with the lunch time games it takes the players a while to get into the groove and so it took a while to get the fans going because they didn't start like they normally do. I didn't think it was as loud as it normally is.
The atmosphere was good on Saturday, so Sky's coverage must have been dimmed down. There were a few empty seats, but what do you expect on a Saturday two weeks before Christmas !?
Despite the OP WUMing, I actually think we haven't got behind the team as much as the first 6 or so home games. Been like it for about 4 games. It isn't just about shouting when we score. I have felt that we need to rally a bit more.
I've sat in both Northam and Chapel, and although the Northam end will tell you lot that you're asleep most of the time, I know that the Chapel end can really let rip on occasion. Then they all strain their throats and have to have a gargle with TCP, beer or whisky, when they get home.
The atmosphere for me is never as good for the earlier kick offs for me dont know why. Must say the ref generated a bit of noise from the crowd with his incompetence and also the introduction of Phillips have to say the combination of Barts display and Phillips on the pitch made me very nervous as we normally provoke him into scoring against us.People can sing what they like but its never funny when it backfires i would sooner we concentrated on getting behind lads when things are not going our way but on the whole we have a great set of fans who have had a lot of tough times football wise yet always have backed the team
