â¢Best Driver: Jenson Button, â¢Worst Driver: Felipe Massa â¢Best Rookie: Daniel Ricciardo (Got taken out at the start and recovered fantastically to beat his teammate and score some points) and Romain Grosjean for that Q3 performance and then got taken out when it wasn't his fault. â¢Best Team: McLaren â¢Worst Team: HRT â¢Best Overtake: Rosberg on Kobayashi â¢Funniest-moment: Button doing Vettel's "finger"/Kimi and the blue flags â¢Most Surprising Result: Where to start? â¢Least Surprising Result: Massa sucked â¢Special Mention to: Maldonado, Perez, Alonso, Raikkonen â¢Race Rating: 9/10
Best Driver: Button - Controlled the entire race and was the fastest driver, never in danger of getting beat. Worst Driver: Massa - To be that slow compared to your team mate the entire weekend is just shameful. Best Rookie: Ricciardo - Impressed in quali and the race. Best Team: Mclaren - Quick and faultless. Worst Team: HRT - Slow and crap. Best Overtake: Vettel on Rosberg. Funniest-moment: Raikkonen on the team radio. Most Surprising Result: Maldonado almost getting 6th. Least Surprising Result: Webber getting a bad start and then fighting his way back up, Massa being ****. Special Mention to: Alonso for performing miracles with the Ferrari, Perez for having a great race until being unlucky with the SC, Raikkonen fighting his way back up. Race Rating: 8.5/10 First thoughts on Sky ? Nothing impressive.
Best Driver: Button Worst Driver: Massa Best Rookie: Ricciardo Best Team: Mclaren Worst Team: Caterham Best Overtake: Vettel/Rosberg Funniest-moment: "And Rosberg under pressure from Rosberg there" Most Surprising Result: Kobayashi 6th! Least Surprising Result: Vettel Special Mention to: Perez, Maldonado Race Rating: 8/10 First thoughts on Sky ? Meh. Croft was useless at times, didn't watch any of the build-up or post-race but then I never do.
Best Driver: Jenson Worst Driver: Massa Best Rookie: Grosjean Best Team: McLaren Worst Team: Hispania Best Overtake: Sebastian Vettel on Nico Rosberg Funniest-moment: Raikkonen and Blue flags Most Surprising Result: Maldonado almost getting 6th Least Surprising Result: Maldonado in fact not getting 6th/ Binning it. Special Mention to: Schumacher. Looked great all weekend. I was sad for him when he retired Race Rating: 8/10 First thoughts on Sky ? Worse than the BBC but not too bad
Best Driver: Jenson Button. Text book win from him. Worst Driver: Felipe Massa Best Rookie: Vergne, Pic was a bit meh Best Team: Mclaren/Sauber (race) Worst Team: HRT (they dont even deserve a bold) Best Overtake: Vettel on Rosberg Funniest-moment: Kimmeh, liberah Kimmeh Most Surprising Result: Force India being poor compared to testing. Least Surprising Result: Alonso beating Massa / Webber getting lucky Special Mention to: Perez. Race Rating: 8/10 First thoughts on Sky ? Better than BBC.
Best Driver: Jenson/ Alonso, because that ferrari is a dog... Worst Driver:Hamilton, so disappointing after a great qualifying Best Rookie: Im going with Ricciardo i like that lad, had a good performance after going off. Best Team: Mclaren? Good car, strong pit stops. Should of had a 1-2 Worst Team:Hrt. Need i say more? Best Overtake:The last lap carnage, does that count? i hadnt a clue how it ended. Funniest-moment: Kimi - Blue flags. What a guy. Most Surprising Result: Di resta getting points. Least Surprising Result: Massa being so far behind Alonso, merc race pace... Special Mention to: Vettel Race Rating: 7/10 First thoughts on Sky ? Didnt really like it, the only thing they have better than BBC is Brundle imo
Best Driver: Kimi Räikkönen - He was as fast as ever and his race craft top notch! Worst Driver: Pastor Maldonado - bumping into everything/everyone. Best Rookie: Ricciardo Best Team: McLaren - They have done a stellar job over the winter. Fastest car by miles. Worst Team: Ferrari - Hire some brains for the Tech/Aero dept damn j00, I want you on top! Best Overtake: Nico Rosberg - at the start passing both Red Bull and Grosjean. Funniest-moment: Kimi: "Why do I get all the time blue flags?" Engineer: "Blue flags are for cars behind Kimi, they are not for you." Most Surprising Result: Vettel second - After watching FP3 and Qualify, I thought he would try to over perform and crash. Well done! Least Surprising Result: Hamilton showing his weak mental state, right where he left off in 2011. If he ever wants another WDC, he has to get those things sorted. Talent is not enough. Special Mention to: Schumacher, Räikkönen, Alonso. Race Rating: 8/10 - Awesome race but I want Schumi back on the podium! First thoughts on Sky ? All around TERRIBLE! The main presenter(cant even be bothered to look up his name) Is immensely boring and pales compared to Jake. Georgia Thompson is too hot for this and adds nothing more. The "Fake Pad"(a.k.a. SkyPad) is a joke and looks <input patronizing words here>. Sky should be shot for having all those commercial breaks on such an expensive channel. Thankfully Brundle, Crofty, Kravitz and Sir Damon Hill even it all up a bit giving Sky a total score of 5/10.
Best Driver: Jenson Button - Simply flawless. Worst Driver: Felipe Massa - I sympathise with the car he's got but 1.6 slower fastest lap than Alonso's fastest? Best Rookie: Riccardo - big fan of this guy and he did well. For me the best talent at Toro Rosso since Vettel Best Team: McLaren. Easy decision. Strong performance all round. Should have been a 1/2 but the safety car denied them that. Worst Team: HRT - a team completely devoid of any point at all. Terrible car. Terrible preparations and a driver line up that is so out of date that it's almost offensive. Best Overtake: Vettel on Rosberg Funniest-moment: Raikonnen on blue flags Most Surprising Result: Maldonado - a terrible season last year from him. But this was something much better in a car that is actually quite good it seems. That said you wonder where Williams would be with better drivers. Because there are much better drivers than Maldonado and Senna out there. Least Surprising Result: Vettel gaining 2nd through luck and sheer hard work. Deserved. Special Mention to: Fernando Alonso. Took a dog of a car and turned it into something that looked half worthy. Great effort from the Spaniard. Deserves better. Race Rating: 7.5/10 First thoughts on Sky ? Sky's output falls well short of the standards set by Jake Humphrey and co of the last few years. Poor effort especially considering they've dedicated a whole channel to the sport. Post race analyses was poor and drab and the commentary didn't offer much insight compared to Radio 5 Live commentary. Not a good start.
Best Driver: Vettel. I just about never give it to a dominant race winner, and Vettel threw up some exciting stuff today. Worst Driver: Massa. Best Rookie: Verge by default. Ricciardo and Grosjean aren't rookies in my book. Best Team: Pound for pound, Sauber Worst Team: HRT Best Overtake: Vettel on Rosberg Funniest-moment: Kimi's whinging. Most Surprising Result: Mercedes getting nothing Least Surprising Result:Maldonado getting nothing Special Mention to: Di Resta getting a point out of absolutely nowhere. Race Rating: 8/10 First thoughts on Sky: Take them off the air. Anyone who works for a sports team that guesses whether or not someone is going to live and portrays this guess as fact is not worthy of being treated even-handedly. I have said in the BBC win thread that every BBC replacement is better than everyone who went to Sky apart from Brundle, and stand by that view despite rating Crofty. Their equivalent of Jake makes Jake look good. Damon makes Eddie look tolerable and DC and Jaime positively brilliant. Georgie Thompson offers nothing and Davidson's alongside her was awkward and surprisingly uninformative. During exciting parts of the race there was absolutely zero chemistry between Croft and Brundle. If I were being fair I would point out that this will no doubt improve as time goes by, but I'm not in the mood so I'll just slam them. Pinkham didn't do as good a job getting hold of drivers as Lee McKenzie normally does, and Ted had less input. I watched today (through entirely legal means I'd like to point out) because I knew I had no way of avoiding the result; I won't be watching again until Canada.
He hit one driver in a racing incident then got unlucky on the last lap, after running in 6th for most of the race and pressurising a double world champion in a superior car.
My interpretation of the term rookie is "someone who has little or no professional experience" and extends beyond their first season. I still consider diResta a rookie for example.
In fairness to Chris, the Sky commentators mistook Maldonado for a Sauber during an incident, and I think they might have mistook him for Senna at one point as well.
I admit I am being VERY biased. Last season, I was supporting him, but it is hard to do so this season, and probably for pretty unjust reasons. I worshipped Ayrton Senna and want nothing more than to see Bruno raise to his level. That being said, it looked to me like he acted as if he was alone on the track during the incident with Grosjean. Didn't he also bump together with more people or I must have imagined it. I will watch the re-run later and check more careful but I will most probably not be able to remove my coloured glasses ;P
Best Driver: Alonso - who else could take that dog to 5th? Worst Driver: Massa Best Rookie: Grosjean if that counts. If not then Vergne. Best Team: McLaren for such a great car and decent pit stops Worst Team: HRT Best Overtake: Vettel on Rosberg Funniest-moment: Raikkonen on the radio Most Surprising Result: Alonso up to 5th Least Surprising Result: Hamilton only finishing 3rd Special Mention to: Button, Perez and Vettel all had great races. Race Rating: 7/10 First thoughts on Sky - It was okay, the adverts were frustrating and Georgie Thompson pisses me off. Lazenby isn't too bad and I think he'll improve as the season continues. Croft is decent when commentating practice but he made a few errors today and spoke too much (or maybe Brundle was too quiet). Sky should use Brundle a lot more.
