Curbs used to like a compact squad of players, especially if they could play more than one position. Adkins' role seems to be more like Head Coach, I don't know how much say he has in the make-up of the squad.
It's just something managers come out with to gee up their team, and have an excuse ready if they lose.
I don't mind too much drawing away games, but it does mean we must win more at the Valley. Drawing with Cambridge was two big points dropped. Striker please Mr Sandgaard before the window closes.
I listened to the commentary, and to Curbs Scotty and Brownie afterwards, and it sounds quite like Adkins' set-up, with Stockley isolated up front, receiving mostly head-high passes with nobody near enough. They were quite critical of Innis's attempts to play the ball out of defence. A point at Wycombe is OK, but they have a long injury list, yet for all our possession they had a lot more shots on target, we only had 2, which is a concern. They were also concerned that other teams are learning how to play us. Funny how managers stick to one system, El Gobbo had 4-2-3-1, Adkins 4-5-1, Bowyer's 4-4-2 diamond, although there was some flexibility, and Garner's 4-3-3.
