I think Aneke and Smyth are our first choice in attack. Far more guile than Washington and Bogle. Match fitness is a different matter though
Why doesn't Aneke start? Him and Smyth coming on made all the difference, they injected some pace. We deserved to win on the second half display. But you can't afford to miss a penalty. I thought the Ref had an absolute mare in the second half.
I haven't been too impressed by Bogle so far but Washington has his moments - he's good enough for a league 1 team I think.
Definitely, we missed a penalty they got a soft one - think I’d prefer Maddison or shinnie to take our penalties or even Watson!
The referee is supposed to referee the game, right? I've never seen the 4th official take charge before. Another ref would have booked the Gills player for diving. Having said that we showed little urgency in the first half, and over the piece a draw was a fair reflection of play. We could have lost it but for Amos.
Feels like two points dropped, although we never do well down there. The defence looked solid enough & Amos player well. Gillingham are a bog standard League One team with no quality. You can’t legislate for officials that are as bad as today’s. Peters & Lee could have done better. We need 1/2 new strikers in January the finish Top 2.
As a result of things I had to do this morning, by the time I was ready to commit to a viewing subscription the game was already well under way. Seems like I didn't miss much.
The first-half was typical of some of our poorer games, pass the ball around the back 4 , get closed down, send it long under pressure, lose possession. We make teams like Gillingham and Oxford look quite good. We're managing to put a run together without outplaying teams though, so when the players gell we'll hopefully be a bit better to watch. If T Sandgaard provides us with a good medical department that should also help. And Aneke has to start.
