Mancini's first 40 games in charge of City:
    Won 20, Drew 9, Lost 11

AVB's first 40 games in charge of Chelsea:
    Won 19, Drew 11, Lost 10

Fergusons first 40 games in charge of utd
    Won 17, Drew 14 Lost 9

    Would patience have been rewarded?

How much did Ferie's squad cost though? Pittance compared to ours, you've got to expect results if you spend 90 odd million from the chairman's point of view.

I still think we should've been patient but I don't think these stats can be compared to what's happening here.

Becoming an impossible job now though and talented managers will think twice about going there

More than just time, AVB needed the fullest backing from Abramovich. Roman should have said that the new manager would be in place for 3 years to oversee the changes needed at Chelsea. Anyone unhappy could just piss off. Sadly for ABV, that isn't like Abramovich.

Probably, but patience is something we don't have, so success is also something we will not have.

He ****ed it....he alienated the squad with his arrogance and belief that whatever he did he was there for three years, he was aloof and dismissive even though he'd been a scout four years previously, and he started to lose his beans behind the scenes, on the touchline and with the press.

It is a real shame, as he will undoubtedly become a very, very good manager, and I think most on here know I don't advocate the red button approach that RA has, but if you behave like a **** you should expect to get treated like one.

Bit tough SW6. He wasn't arrogant when he arrived, and it looks to me like it became some form of defence. Like being aggressive to those who genuinely try and help you. The poor sod was shafted before he arrived. He had NO help from Management , the "lads ", or anyone else within the Club that I can see. He was promised time to change things, then was betrayed by those who gave their word.
He went down the same worn path that preceding Managers trod, with the Press, and the fans after blood. Looks to me like he was one against the world. Who wouldn't lose his beans ?? Even Jose did. He didn't alienate the squad, only those that had already decided to shaft him. The others regularly came out in his defence. And the sad thing is, it wasn't personal. These ring pieces do the same to any and all managers that dare to suggest they should be let go.
There are many, many bigger ***** at Chelsea than AVB, and they thrive under RA.
I hope he goes on to great things , like Jose has, like Ancellotti is doing at PSG. And I hope he gives 2 fingers to RA and our Management team. They deserve nothing better.

Nice to know RA went into the dressing room and gave them the hair dryer treatment! I'd love to have been a fly on the wall!

In all fairness it sounded like some of your old guard (lamps etc) were the ****s during this whole affair. You'll do well to move them on at the end of the season. Players like that who have outlasted countless managers start to think they are superior to managers when they're not

Possibly but sod it, he's a few million quid better off so I don't really have too many tears to shed.

He had a remit to overhaul the squad and rebuild it. Instead of giving them a tickle and getting the best out of them until the summer and selling them on, he steamed in and ran the rule over a core group of players notorious for making life difficult for people if they wanted to.

What about freezing out Anelka and Alex, and to such a degree where apparently they weren't even allowed to the xmas party?

Two very popular figures in the club, ostricised and made to look like idiots for daring to suggest they wanted to leave.

He could have played it very, very differently...instead he chose to wear his "Roman Loves Me" badge on his forehead and go in bowling ball style.

It's effectively boiled down to his immature man management techniques.

    Agreed 100%<ok>

Totally agree, but his failure to play them psycologically for one season before showing them the door was his undoing.

There are ways to manage a situation, even if it is for the short term and against your principles, but will ultimately achieve the end result you desire.

The difference with Mancini and ferguson was they got rid of trouble causers before it became an issue. As good as they are,if players like Stam Adebeyor Bellamy are disrupting the dressing room,it pays to shift them on

    Good shout<ok>

Ours have been allowed to stay on and fester...mainly due to RA giving them his ear and allowing them to become bigger than anyone he put in place.

Hopefully his apparent outburst at them will spell it out, but unfortunately we are 5 managers down the line since when that should have really first occurred<ok>

I think he only bought Romeu and Mereiles though...all the rest were progressing or progressed by the board.
