Lots of reports doing the rounds that AVB will become the new manger of spurs. In light of this many arsenal fans seem to be viewing this as an appointment in no concern for us. I however beg to differ. You must take into account that he was essentially over ruled by the old guard at Chelsea and deprived of a free reign. At Porto he worked wonders with a limited budget and plays the type of football reminiscent under Harry. He knows how to mix youth in with the experience and can pick a good bargain rather than splurge on superstars which is more likely to be out of reach at spurs. I'm not by any means saying he will be a success but don't rule him out just yet.
I think AVB will be an excellent signing for Spurs. He is young, talented and has won quite a bit so quickly. He already has the players at Spurs and in my opinion, won't find it difficult to put his philosophy across. Chelsea was a different kettle of fish, they were just all wrong for him, both on terms of players and the management aspect.
His work at Porto was amazing and at the time, I thought he could even do a job for us. But his man management at Chelsea was really bad. Whatever you think about their big players, he should have approached it better. Also his tactics at Chelsea should be called into serious question. Playing a high line with those Chelsea players was so idiotic it's untrue. Also there was whole thing about telling his players to celebrate with him, now that was just embarrassing. Oh and there was the thing with Anelka and Alex, where he banned them from the Christmas dinner and took away their parking spots. That's petty and you have to again question this guy man management skills. At Spurs, their players have been working under someone like Redknapp who is nothing like AVB. You have to wonder how their players will adjust to that type of change.
AVB when at Chelsea was doing really sh!t, Dematteo took charge and won the cup and champions league. So you can't just say it was mainly down to Chelsea for why they were doing **** and not AVB.
Yet Chelsea finished lower in the league with Di Matteo in charge. When AVB was fired, i believe they were 4th.
Matteo didn't get top 4, but it was obvious they had their eyes on the Champions League as their main way of getting in, and their poor position in the league is once again down to AVB as he was the one who was mainly in charge for the majority of the season.
I'd agree with all of that bar the bit in bold I think his time at chelsea was him failing to do just that.
Doesn't matter who they appoint, Every Team Arry Has Left Has Been Financially Ruined and Been Relegated
I can see AVB giving them a good run for their first 5-6 games, half of their victories will be in Europa against lesser teams like Shamrock or London Boys. We'll probably lose our 1st couple games, They'll start the whole power shift, mind the gap crap like they did last season and will start the early season gloating, then boom, West Ham will beat them and their downward spiral begins.
