AM won La Liga and reached CL final on wage bill £24m less than relegated QPR in 2013/14

This year they are second in La Liga (a better achievement than being top of PL, given the way TV money is distributed) and in the CL semis on a wage bill less than Leicester (and Spurs or Liverpool or Arsenal etc)

... only second in La Liga mind <whistle> ... and if you are going to add ours and the Spuds wage bills together you can hardly compare ... just out of interest, how does Chelsea's wage bill compare to Athletico's ? ... and how does it compare to the combined Leicester/Spuds one <laugh>

I've seen this bandied about and I'm not sure that I buy it, to be honest.
They've got a number of players on very high wages and Simeone's not cheap either, so I don't see how it's possible.

Several members of their squad joined after playing for clubs who pay high wages.
Torres, Luis and Tiago all spent time at Chelsea, Carrasco was at Monaco and Savic was at City and Fiorentina.
They beat other big sides to notable signatures, like Griezmann, while Koke was wanted by various teams and signed a new deal.
I can't see how they can do that while paying out less money than Fulham.

Perhaps there's some difference in the way that it's calculated between the two countries or something?
There's supposed to be some sort of salary cap in La Liga too, so it might be something more dodgy.

Strange thread. I doubt anyone would disagree Atletico > Leicester.

Typical of a Chavbus fan to go with the angle on money though. I guess ££££ is all that matters to some <whistle>

They do, but they also pay them a lot of money.
Are they on substantially less now?
