Sure it was a mistake but not as clear cut from his position maybe.

I couldn't watch the game yesterday but boy was the incident exaggerated. Reading the live feed you would think the ball was off by a yard.

Sure the ball may not have passed the line but it's also not as incontestable as people are making it out to be.

Can I also just bring everyone back to 2005 when Liverpool, pundits and the media tried everything they could to excuse that phantom goal whilst they have now talked about how Spurs were robbed and dealt this great injustice. That goal back then was actually the only one and it proved to be decisive, whereas we were already leading and ended up winning 5-1 (not to say that Spurs could not come back from 1-0 down). The biggest joke was when they claimed it could have been a penalty and a red card to Cech. The fact that it was a high foot by Milan Baros (and on a keeper no less) went completely over their heads. So not only did the ball back then not cross the line, but it should have been an indirect free-kick due to a high foot by Baros on Cech. Yet they all were too keen to laugh at us and rub it in to Mourinho to actually care about the injustice to us back then.

So was Mata's goal incorrectly awarded? Well to me...it doesn't Mata!

    ****ing this! <ok>

You know I thought the exact same thing yesterday. All they asked Lampard and Terry were questions about the 2nd goal, not once did they congratulate them until about 8 questions in <doh>. ****ing ridiculous.

Loved it when Lamps pulled him up on it and said something like 'you act like it's my fault'.

Who was that prat doing the interviews?? Literally asked the same question over and over to each player before anything else. Hardly subtle questioning!! Must have been a spud, he seemed genuinely annoyed.

    <applause>

Not only this but the bias of the ITV commentary towards Liverpool and against us. The commentators remained adamant that the goal had crossed the line without seeing any replay and insisted it should be given based on the benefit of doubt, yet when Chelsea are the benfeciaries against Spurs they were quick to query the goal and ask the question as to whether it had crossed the line without being preemptive (as they should have done when we played Liverpool).

It's funny how attitudes change depending on who is affected by events.

United vs Spurs - Clattenburg castigated by the media
Liverpool vs Chelsea - It's part of human error that makes the game, we will never know.

As soon as England were affected.... Bring in Goal Line Technology.

I'm not saying there weren't calls for goal tech before this as there were but the FA/media never pushed it to this extent, certainly not when we were robbed of the CL in 2005 <ok>

This looks damn near to all of the ball over all of the line to me... problem is I think the TV camera framerates are too slow to pick up on the point it may have... whereas this looks to have been taken with a stills camera. Just a thought...

You are just winding us up with this aren't you? You cannot really think that looks over the line? Draw any line you like and none of the ball (let alone all of it) is over the line.

Agreed <laugh>. Lamps was genuine about it, so was Terry.

Exactly, they said they knew it didn't go over the line, then why the **** did they celebrate?

It's all a conspiracy, the FA hate you!!!

Because the goal was given, that's what players normally do when they score.

They didn't say they knew they said they didn't THINK it had. There is a world of difference.

And not to get too picky about it but Lampard actually said he didn't know at all.
