Anybody heard anything ref development of this site or renewal of any existing planning permissions? Personally would love a speedway track, that would keep the locals happy. Come on you Bulldogs !!
I thought the ring road is going to be by there soon or is that just the compound for the workforce being put there?
I understood that the intention was to bring the Failand Academy down there but I have no doubt SL and his consortium are planning some suitable revenge upon the NIMBYs who created the problem. Revenge is a dish best served cold
It was indicated that a Sporting facility would be built on the site. Hopefully that will be in line with the City Academy in BS5 which is used by a football development centre. It is an obvious area BCFC where the club can improve and provide more coaching opportunities.
It would be amazing to have speedway back, but like most things in the city, it wont be allowed to happen due to nimbys. Bristol had by da I can name all of the above bar the guy on the far right ? Nigel Boocock, Phil Herne, Steve Gresham, Tormod Langli, Tom Leadbitter and Crumpy on the bike.
Well remembered Simon ! Just checked it out and it certainly was.Soren Sjosten. His brother Christer died as a result of injuries sustained in Australia in, prompting Soren himself to retire. Also didn't realise that Kristian Praestrbro died back in 2003 of a brain tumour. I saw him ride for the first time for Belle Vue at the County Ground Exeter in 1975 against the likes of Ivan Mauger, Scott Autrey, John Titman, Steve Reinke, and co, and at various other venues after that.
Wow certainly some names from the past there! One of my mates from school was American - bumped into him the other day and he's in contact with a couple of Americans from the old days - I think he said Shawn Moran and John Cook (it was a year ago and the memory is not what it was!) I must say that young Tai is a tremendous ambassador for the sport - shame he's not riding Elite League
There is a good video on You Tube for the Kelly Moran Memorial. A lot of famous faces from Penhall, Gresham, Schwartz, Dennis Sigalos, Ron Preston and John 'Cowboy' Cook. A nostalgic 10 minutes. Agree that Tai is a great advert. Shame about the tattoos on his face/neck.. They look terrible IMHO.
