I appreciate there will have been zillions of threads about fat Mike but as the new season approaches am I alone in thinking sense might have finally prevailed at the TOON.

Listen, the TOON have never had decent chairmen........Stan Seymour ,Westwood, McKeag, Fat Boil...........they've all been takers not givers............

Anyway, from a dodgy start ( " Freddie never showed me the true books before I bought"), bringing in your mates who know more than you about a new business venture ( Wise) to let's get friendly with the fans ( beers on me), to I'm selling as you don't love me anymore............perhaps the dust has settled.

I'm unsure of the financials of our drop into the Championship, but parachutes and sales must have cushioned an obscene wage bill ( 4x that of West Brom).........but I'm thinking we could have been Portsmouth or Leeds ( am I wrong?).

Anyway, the club and fat Mike seem to be at peace now and we got rid of the jokers, sicknotes and hopefully deadwood........

Our signings have been brilliant, young and future prospects rather than trophy signings who could do a job ( or in Smithy and Xisco's case not even hit the bar for £4million a year).

So let's agree fat Mike may be a fool but he's our fool..................roll on the new season and come on the TOON.........can't wait.

I agree that in some ways he has became slightly better, but the main thing for me is that he still doesn't communicate with the fans properly. The last time he communicated to the fans was in the Keegan scenario when he even admitted he lied to the fans

If he got rid of LambARSE and brought Mort back in I think he would be in a stronger position.

I agree with what your saying. I don't think he would come back, but I would like someone like him and not Llambias.

Llambias only pipes up when he wants to slag off a former player. Shearer then Owen. Although the Owen one did bring out some truths.

My dads friend used to work in the Ritz casino, in which Llambiarse was the manager of and he watched FMA lose £6 m each week!

We seem to be heading in the right direction, hopefully this will leave us in a healthy position when these new UEFA rules are enforced. But we'll have to see!

MA as a man I still don't particularly like, but as a businessman he is doing all the right things for the club. With the FIFA regs coming into play over the next few years I think we are better off with a genuine businessman as our owner than a nice guy.

I'd also say better the devil you know. We could do worse. After all the guy is an improvement on Shepherd.

Quite a few folks say this, but it's not Ashley's responsibility to communicate with the fans .. if we can get some proven truths through Pards for a sustained period of time I would not care if Ashley is never heard from again, just want him to support the team, manager and club .. if he does that silently in the background then fair play to him. Don't know any other vocal, media friendly owners .. aside from his arch nemesis Uncle Dave down at Wigan :)

There is a responsibility to have some communication, even Shepherd wrote a column in the programme every home game and it occasionally made sense. Llambias only started doing it again last season and for the most part was a load of bollocks, notably criticising the fans for booing Carroll yet still not explaining the circumstances around the move, and generally saying nothing in 2000 words. Its better than it was 2 years ago, but theres still loads of room for improvement.

Llambias is clueless though, sooner he's gone the better.
