Nearly as ludicrous as selling Joe for £15,000,000 :smiley-finger007:.

His flesh and bones for 12 months are worth more to us than £4m.

Its just so hard to judge these days. One thing is for sure £4million now is better than shag all in 12 months time

Id leave his contract run down, that way we get another year out of him, time to replace, and that would give ash a lucrative free as a thankyou for his time with us

I think 4 Million is actually steep for a 30 year old defender to be honest lads. If it was a big Club shelling out that kind of money then it'd be peanuts to them but we're in the financial shi*ter and must not repeat the same mistakes as 2 years ago.

I'm not saying the guy's not worth it but if I were to spend 4m on a CB, I'd much prefer it if he was in his early 20's.

Could this be another move that one of our former stars regrets? Dunno. So much for the big boys coming in for him. Can't understand it from the players point of view but if he wants out then thanks tara. <ok>

No disrespect to QPR but if he goes it's certainly not to better himself career wise .Torn between the idea as as Pembs jacks , run his contract down although that could back fire with an unhappy leader on the pitch ,so if he is desperate to leave then Thanks for the memories and close the door quietly ( after you've let our new lad enter the room )

QPR must want him because he has experience fighting a relegation battle. LOL.

He`s done a good job for us over previous years, but i would rather cash him in now than let him go for free next year. In this results driven game we`ve had a poor defence this last season and he is the main man in our defence. So i think he`s not got long left in him at this level and we will move forward without him as we`ve done without others that thought the grass was greener.

All players love you when their not good enough to be head hunted by higher / money clubs but as soon as one comes sniffing around they will drop you like a bad habit.
The board should have matured enough by now to know how the real game is played off the field ?

Ok lads, there seems to be a division here, but the question is, as we are in a year on year battle to survive in the prem, who could replace ash next year for this amount of money?

It's being reported in the Western Fail that we are considering a cheeky bid for Caulker. If we get £4 million for Ash, that would be half Caulker's estimated fee. This would mean we'd might have Chico, Caulker, Bartley and Amat as our 4 centre backs, something I was hoping for the last time Ash was reported to be on the move. I'd be happy with that as I said at the time.

This would be a great solution, but sadly cant realistically see caulker coming back

Was just about to post something similar, ivor. Although Caulker needs to answer some questions after last season I've always been of the view that good players don't turn bad overnight and I'd have him here but not at £8M as I really think he's overpriced.

That said, Chico, Amat, Bartley (who I really rate) and Caulker gives us some good options at the back.

Ash would be a steal at £4m, I'm still hanging on to him staying until it's made official...

I don't understand people jumping on the bandwagon that we should get rid of Ash. He's not going to throw his toys out the pram if we hold him to his contract, he respects Swansea City too much. The guy has won us points by himself over the years as he throws himself into huge amounts of last ditch blocks and makes as many clearances as the top defenders in the game. He's developed himself into a player as strong as anyone. Despite not being tall, he wins a massive percentage of his aerial duels against the top strikers in the game through sheer brute strength.

No, we don't need £4m. We need a top quality player in our squad to help us secure another £70m war chest at the end of next season. Keep.
