What on EARTH is going on at Portman Road!?!??! We're 28 hours from the transfer window SHUTTING, with Stevenson + Delaney going + gone respectively. This brings me to another point, we must be the WORST CLUB I can think of for settling deals and NOT receiving a transfer fee. Don't get me wrong, CHEERIO Delaney, however couldn't we have received £70k or so instead of paying off a lot of his final year deal!? Unbelievable frankly...... I would ASSUME we have 1 if not 2 centre backs pretty much done, or a quality loan ( Upson mentioned ) that is more or less a done deal. However, should they fall through, Smith + Chambers for a season!? With N'daw ( more a centre mid ) as cover - O K THEN......... Murphy is a good acquisition. Yes it's loan - however, no fee paid and we'll pay a %%% of his wages = COMPLETE FINANCIAL SENSE. Yesterday I was rather excited at the Peterborough duo arriving, however slightly shocked by the fee. Final year of contracts and transfer listed............. What happened with the terms and conditions of their wages? Were they being greedy, or were we being cheap? I would imagine a mixture of both. If you go in for players this late, it becomes THEIR market for deals sadly. I cannot imagine such a frantic end to a transfer window involving us. In our current state, even with Murphy + N'Daw coming in we have MASSIVE holes at the back. We need another 3 permanent signings by tomorrow I would say. Personally, I have NOTHING against season long loans with NO recall clause. What really is the issue? Do the business tonight or tomorrow all involved, as I am slightly SCARED at the minute. I am very open to being delighted tomorrow night, so please me away! PS - To all the Jewell outers - he identified two targets, and they turned us down on wages. Would another manager make a blind bit of difference? NO clearly not. There are issues behind the scenes definitely, and irrespective of who is manager, we are still going to have the same issues. Final post - to all the Cresswell lovers out there, if we could get £3 million for him, I would literally bite ANY clubs hand off ! Elikobe of Wolves on loan would do me for the season, yes please. FAR better player anyway....!
There's definitely something wrong when our managers identify players they want, only to see them go somewhere else and be left with filling the gap with a second or third choice, or basically whoever is available and will come.
