We've heard plenty from those who think he's lost the plot, run out of ideas, too stubborn, etc

I say that he's still the best man for the job.

We've got problems that need addressing, I believe that Wenger is fully aware of those problems and is doing all he can to address them.

It's easy to call for change, much harder to implement it properly and effectively.

If we sacked Wenger now, we really would be in a crisis.

Piskie, you are such a crawler as far as Wenger is concerned, it is embarrassing.

He is past his sell by date and you can't or won't see it.

And you are such a hater, which means most of your points have become tedious to read. He has his value to us and you can't or won't see it.

He had his value in the early years which everyone acknowledges but six years without winning anything says he is past it now.

Anyway, i think Arsene has developed yet another star in Francis Coquelin. Thought he was class yesterday. Won everything on the ground and was really good on the ball. Some nice passing into the forwards at the right pace. In him and Frimpong we have two young and hungry DM's that will try and push Song for a role in the team. Very pleased to have these two in our squad.

Do you really have any evidence for that? We have the same problems for years (defensive instability, lack of mental toughness etc) and they show no signs of getting better, if anything they have got worse. The habitual laziness and carelessness of members of our team suggest that the manager has lost the dressing room, I just don't see them trying for him anymore bar the likes of RvP and Vermaelen. Despite what the LMA may say sacking a manger mid season can often help the team, look what happened when Redknapp, Grant (at chelsea), Hodgson etc took over. I do think Wenger should be given more time for sure, but I doubt it will be such as disaster as you do if we did show him the door.

That said, he has been a great manager for us and he deserves more respect than he receives at the moment.

How can he be a crawler? It's not like Wenger going to give him a free season ticket for life <doh><laugh>

    Or is he?

  13. I don't think any of us has failed to appreciate what Arsene Wenger has done and the good things he continues to do. It's just that there are more issues that just the defence of which it has been suggested that once fixed, all would be well. The midfield needs work as well, as does a Plan B and not least, the number of injuries our players seem to pick up. Benik Afobe has now been told he is sidelined for a minimum of four months.

As importantly and from Arsene's perspective, I would hate for it to come to a point where he is asked to leave. Apart from anything else, those on whom this duty would befall have no right to assume that they are blameless in respect of our situation. I would rather that Arsene goes on his own accord when it is time and not because he feels he needs to flog a dead horse. I would like his reputation and his record not to be diminished by a perceived need to stay on when the time was right to pass on the reins to someone else.

Look, i appreciate everything Wenger has done for us, he's revolutionised the english game too, but football is a results business. We're not getting the results, and most of the blame can be placed on the manager and the boards shoulders. He didn't get adequate replacements when our invincibles group left or retired, he didn't get suitable replacements for Cesc and Nasri, he is refusing to change an obviously flawed system. I really appreciate all his effort, but at the end of the day, the club comes before the manager, and in that case, he's now hurting us.

  17. So many of you Gooners want rid of Wenger that I now find myself in the odd position that by coming out and openly expressing my praise for your manager, and rating him as one of the best in world football, I'm probably going to be accused of being a wum.

Then again, for a couple on this board, merely showing up is, of itself, an act of wummery.

I still a huge Wenger fan. All of the hater's still can't say anything that he has done wrong.

It's always some dumb phrase like "He has lost the plot", or "he is past it".

They go on about not winning trophys but cant say why any other manager would have won instead. Yet all the managers that they would have replace him have done worse at other clubs with greater resources. None are as respected by their players and none have the knowledge and experience he has. Many have never won anything.

Bear - the recent transactions you refer to are Cesc and Nasri.
Cesc gave us 8 years and wanted to go home, leaving us was a heartbreaking decision for the lad, I don't think we can have anything but admiration for the way he has behaved and we should recognise that his leaving was because of unique reasons.
Nasri on the other hand was a greedy, deceiptful, lying sh#te whose only interest was in doubling his wages, £90k a week isn't enough for some people and whilst he's a talented player I'm glad that kind of attitide is out the dressing room.

AW does everything he can to keep talent that feels are necessary to the club, but if your players are mercenaries there's little you can do - attempting to keep pace with the irresponsible Man Citys/Chelseas of the world will result in big long term problems.
