First and foremost, I would still 100% take 4th place if offered now. (We won't win, and 2nd-4th i don't really care.) However I'm sat looking at the league table / fixture lists, and think obviously City/Chelsea will finish top 4, leaving 2 places for (as i see it) Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham (don't think everton can do it now.) But my question is this, are Man U now just too far adrift? Should we really be hoping they beat Arsenal, just in case Spurs pick up form and Arsenal implode? Leaving us and Spurs in the top 4? I think this may be the first thread i've ever started... But just a thought!
no, we want any ****er below us to lose whoever they are playing. we may get 3rd at best, but lets wait until the next game is out the way first.
Wouldn't finishing runners up mean we wouldn't have to qualify? Also picture this, Utd win the CL and we finish 4th, think I'd have to go and live in another country or do something really drastic Its hard for Utd but not ruling them or anyone out! We just have to win our games. Getting tense isnt it!
I wouldn't take 4th now as I still want us to try to get 3rd and guaranteed CL group stage. A draw with massive controversies, penalties and red cards will do
I'd guess we have a 1/3 chance of overtaking Arsenal and 1/10 chance of United overtaking us. Therefore... bring on the Utd win. It only takes the teams above us losing one game each for the table to get very tight and give us a good chance of overtaking one or more above us. 4th is huge... but top 3 and avoiding qualification is bigger. Plus... if we get 3rd more chance of that game in Charlotte against man City being on for me to go see this summer.
I will never hope for a Man Utd win unless it has a direct effect on us; ie the team they're playing needs to lose for us to win the league.
A draw is only slightly less damaging to Arsenal as a loss, so we can let them take a point (our GD is worth one so just use that to write it off) and not give Utd the satisfaction of a win
They have a equally scary front three (although ours is a four) for you guys to contend with but they don't have the pace of Sturridge or Sterling, nor do they have someone of Suarez's ability although he was exactly on fire on Saturday (fortunately for you guys)
Welcome to the board, mate. You'll find there are some very strange people on here. It will become obvious who they are. #gerrezdrzingyetc But there are normal ones like me Stick with us. You'll have a laugh along the way
Welcome pal (kind of, July 2011 but only 53 posts?) Second or third would be better than fourth simply because the latter doesn't get you a automatic CL place so we'd have to play a third round qualifier. Obviously, it's worth about £1m per position in the league too.
Really any result is satisfying. Arsenal win: haha United... potentially 12 points beneath us (depending on Fulham)- Europa hopes slipping into the unlikely. Draw. We have potential to close in on a spot above us and Utd's Europa dreams still slipping. United win. We could potentially be breathing right down Arsenals neck. Arse demoralized with two sequential losses ahead of our FA cup encounter.
I should be hoping for a draw or even a United win simply because of the 3rd/4th situation. However, I just can't resist the possibility of a 12 point gap over United with 12 games to play.
the more the merrier, they will start getting dodgy decisions before end of season, as long as it doesn't matter by then and give them momentum is all i care about, so **** em, hope the gunners stuff them. 5-1 would be nice
I think Arsenal have the better team so if they lose it will be confirmation that they are bottlers (at least concerning this particular fixture) Utd playing for the #deflectedgoal to earn a draw is their best option
