Just a quick question to ask who you Spurs fans dislike more at the moment. Ourselves (Chelsea) or Arsenal. I know that you have a fierce rivalry with both of us and probably moreso Arsenal but due to us kicking you out of the Champions League etc. who do you dislike more? (Both i terms of the club in general and the fans)
I know we all hate each other and all that. his is a fierce triangle all three clubs are in but the atmospheres when each team plays the other are always fantastic. Spurs away for us... WHL is an absolute fortress and Stamford Bridge could perhaps even become a tad intimidating!
Arsenal, easily. Chelsea fans are like those of West Ham. It's a far bigger rivalry to them than it is to us.
Arsenal... Chelsea and their fans accept they spend money... Gooners ignore the money they spend on massive signing on fees and wages and pretend they are over achieving...they are the 3rd or 4th highest spenders in the prem and come...3rd or 4th each year...if chelsea buy their trophies then the gooners buy their champions league place (following their logic)
For 90% of Spurs fans it surely has to be Arsenal. I know Spurs fans by my way hate Chelsea more but that's only because their surrounded by Chelsea fans
I actually agree and disagree. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like the scenes I saw in 09/10 when you beat us and then clips of YouTube of the atmosphere when you best us for the first time in ages in 06/07. There seems to be a real hatred for Chelsea and South Londoners in general in that part of Tottenham. I'd say it's bigger for Chelsea because we have no natural rival whereas you have Arsenal which is a bigger game for Spurs and has far more history to it. After all the clubs are only separated by the Seven Sisters Road. I believe all big rivalries are bigger for one club than the other with the Old Firm being the only exception to the rule and the North East Derby/Black Country/East Midlands being the others The North London Derby is bigger for Spurs than it is for Arsenal Chelsea v Spurs is bigger for Chelsea than it is for Spurs The East London Derby is bigger for Millwall than it is for West Ham United v Liverpool is bigger for Liverpool than it is for United Merseyside Derby is bigger for Everton than it is for Liverpool Brum derby bigger for Birmingham than it is for Liverpool El Clasico is bigger for Barca than it is for Real The Manchester Derby bigger for City than it is United. That doesn't diminish the rivalry at all but I think all rivalries are slightly bigger to one club than they are for the other and its also an individual thing these days as less people are connected to their clubs in the PL. My entire family are Gooners (pretty much) and they don't have a problem with Spurs but hate Chelsea with a passion. Being born and bred in West London where Chelsea is pretty much the local team they obviously can't relate to the rivalry in the same way an Arsenal fan from say Islington or Camden could
I know Spurs fans that hate us more than Arsenal and it was just a question so don't know why you are being so critical tbh... I understand that MOST Spurs fans hate Arsenal more BUT there are those that really dislike us...
For a split second I thought you said hostel and nearly took offence Nah I'm South London, know a few Spurs fans but not many. I know more West Ham and Arsenal tbh who also seem to hate Chelsea more as well so it's the same thing.
I don't really think its that simple anymore. As a football club we have changed and as we don't have a traditional rival you could ask 20 Chelsea fans and they'd probably all tell you something different. Location not only matters IMO, but it's hugely significant. When I was growing up my closest friends at the time were all Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea. I hated Arsenal to the point where I rooted for United to win the league every single year. Most of my Chelsea mates (including the one I go to games with) hate United more than any other team, a lot also hate Spurs and some Arsenal most. I've never met one Chelsea fan that hates Fulham or QPR though. I even know some that hate Palace but not those two
They aren't rivalries though. Back in the day when Chelsea were playing away some of the locals would go over to watch Fulham and vice versa. The hatred for Chelsea only really kicked in when Fulham went down the divisions and people stopped doing that and all flocked off to Chelsea. I think we've only played QPR something like 40 times in our history, similar with Brentford. Due to the 3 other W London clubs moving around so often no rivalry really developed and I'm a firm believer in that you can only have one main rival
I'd be very surprised if any Spurs fans said Chelsea, unless they aren't from North London or even London in general.
