I would class Reyes a flop given the money we spent on him - had he been a £3m dart and failed then OK no flop, but we spent serious money on him and we were entitled to expect better output, it wasn't that he didn't have ability the guy was/is clearly a head f##k.

He won the league and an fa cup in his stay with us (and a charity shield) and his goals per game of 5.3 is the same as walcotts

wish we had more flops like him in the last 7 squads

Fair point, but he cost us £11m I think in a deal that could have been around £18m if I remember correctly and in 2004 that was a hell of alot of money, a figure we still haven't exceeded to this date.
When his head was right he was a huge talent but I think he was another of those who benefited from playing with the talent around him, just my view....

indeed mate and your view is allowed of course ... he never really settled, took the hoax phone call and the rest is history, he worked along side some true legends which should have helped bring the best out of him but never really did ..

Arteta was the best signing according to many polls in last transfer window. I saw these stats in Barca website a few days ago,

    Passing kings in Europe::

Completed pass in opposition half: Xavi (1553), Messi (1351 passes), Xabi Alonso (1271), Dani Alves (1215) and MIKEL ARTETA (1207)!!!

Total completed passes: Xavi (2139), Xabi Alonso (1985), Pirlo (1925), Philipp Lahm (1896) and MIKEL ARTETA (1804)!!!

Most of Arteta's passes are square 10 yard passes, he gets no props for that.

The mere fact that Hleb, Arteta and Reyes are in that side shows that whoever compiled the squad knows nothing about Football.

And as for Davor Suker. I know he only cost a million but he was a bit of a flop too!

Lol at Arteta being on the list. Can only assume the Website must have expected him to play like he did 3/4 years ago. No chance he's been a flop.

At the time, there was a debate between whether it would be him or Micheal Owen who would 'make it' at the top.

I read this and I felt it was a real wind up article. The fact that Silvestre wasn't mentioned, made me think it was a typical United fan.

What I find really funny is how so many of these "flops" played so many games for the first team that finished in the top 4 of the premiership. If they really were flops, then every single signing Harry Redknapp, Martin O'Neill or David Moyes ever made was a flop.

I can understand Arsenal fans thinking some of our players were flops, but when you see this kind of article you just shake your head in dismay. Yes there have been one or two, Jeffers comes to mind, but the rest were either sold for more than they were bought.

Squillachi was a stop gap measure because we had so many CBs injured. He has never been more than a 5th choice CB and so although he is and was poor, what do you expect?

We have to get real when we start talking like this. Man United fans seem to go the other way. As soon as a player is signed, he becomes a legend and a magnificent player. Arsenal fans are the opposite, as soon as we sign a player he becomes a piece of crap.

Wenger has had some signings that didn't work out, but on the whole, the very fact that Arteta, Hleb and Arshavin are on that list shows you how very few there have been.

  15. Have to agree - anyone who puts Arteta in an all time flop 11 is clearly just seeking to wind up. If he had gone to Utd he would be a superstar.
