Arsenal build-up thread

SuperJackWilshere19 the Arsenal mod will be making one of his excellent match threads for our Cup game on Thursday or Friday, so I made this thread for pre-match build-up in the meantime. If you could wait for him to make the thread for the actual game, that would be great. You won't be disappointed!

Lineups? Predictions? Anyone else off to this one?

 

I thinkwe need to bring in a CB before this game, especially if kissa's injury is serious as well as bruce's

Heyho, I'm not sure who SG will pick as he won't want to risk anyone given the more important match 5 days later. I just hope we give them a game & don't embarass ourselves. I'll settle for a 3-1 defeat, but I have a nasty feeling they could run up a cricket score.

 

Seriously I would send out the young ens, let the main squad rest, play forssell and Becchio up top to get match fit,

Zac Thompson deserves to play after Monday! maybe let Maik Taylor play in goal

 

Good call all round ynbz, especially about Maik Taylor getting a game. As our other keeper has gone back to Reading & there's no chance of Rachubka playing for us in the near future, it has to be a good idea for Taylor to get some match practice just in case Lonergan has a relapse.

 

Chubs has had his loan extended anyway,

we will extend Taylors contract til the end of the year so may aswell play him,

Not sure about maybe Dom Poleon getting a run out

 

looks as though Terry Henry will be included in the Gooners squad for this one.

That'll be a treat!

Real problems at centre-back with Bromby, Lees, Bruce all potentially out and Kisnorbo and O'Brien unavailable. O'Dea's the only certainty, I'm sure some of you will be pleased to hear.

 

Not sure we should play a strong senior squad for this game. Give some of the youngsters a chance to impress.

 

Is Bruce injured?

I'd play the first team. They can handle one cup game, and we always seem to be up for the FA cup, especially with the amazing away support we have. I went to this game last season, and it was the best atmosphere I've been at, even better than Man U away the year before.

I'd play Connolly and give Thompson a run out second half. Poleon on the bench.

 

Bruce apparently played with a hamstring injury for the last five minutes on Monday, yeah. So that's usually a two week absence, isn't it? I say play the first team at Arsenal. They have till the Saturday to recover so fitness shouldn't be a problem. Don't want the youngsters to get too humiliated, but I'd definitely give Poleon a crack in the last half hour and see what he's made of.

When Grayson said 'some players won't be playing for Leeds again' after the Barnsley game, I think he was specifically referring to Connolly and Vayrynen. So I imagine they're out of the picture for this glamour fixture.

 

I read an interview with him where he said he thinks he'll be fit but he's unsure. I thought it was normally a 2 week if it was nothing serious but could be more if it was serious. I dunno, maybe he will be able to play
